Elliot Pemberton

Elliot Pemberton was born on August 4, 1832, in Lawrence County. His father, John Pemberton, came to this county from Kanawha County, Virginia, in 1822; he found this county an unbroken forest, there were no roads, nothing but cow-paths; the county was very thinly settled.

Peras R. Polly

Peras R. Polly was a Judge of the Probate Court of Lawrence County, Ohio, who was born in Otsego County, New York, on May 5th, 1815. He was the third child in a family of ten children, whose parents were Daniel Polley and Mary (Holcomb) Polley. His father, a native of Massachusetts, followed through life the trade of millwright.

James M. Deering

James M. Deering was born in the county of Wayne, West Virginia, on December 27, 1814. His father, John Deering, senior, was born in 1769 in Stokes County, North Carolina; from there he removed to Cabell County, West Virginia; from there to Greenup County, Kentucky, and then to Lawrence County, Ohio, in 1830, where he died in 1843.
