John Payton and Julia A. Marcum were married in Lawrence County, in 1837. Mr. Payton was born in Adams County, Ohio, in the year 1813, and came to this county at the age of four years, in 1817.
He is a farmer residing in Aid township. His wife was born in West Virginia, Lawrence County, in 1821.

- Malinda J., July 30, 1847, resides in Jackson County, Missouri;
- Elizabeth, July 24, 1850, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
- Reuben, March 24, 1853, resides in Jackson County, Missouri;
- Susan, August 21, 1856, resides in Jackson County, Missouri;
- Cynthia, August 24, 1858, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
- Tabitha A., March 2, 1860, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
- John H., May 4, 1862, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
- James H., on June 10, 1865, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio.
