John Payton

John Payton and Julia A. Marcum were married in Lawrence County, in 1837.  Mr. Payton was born in Adams County, Ohio, in the year 1813, and came to this county at the age of four years, in 1817. 

He is a farmer residing in Aid township.  His wife was born in West Virginia, Lawrence County, in 1821. 

The following are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Payton: 

  • Polly, born April 9, 1838, died September 10, 1841;
  • Rebecca, March 2, 1840, died July 11, 1849;
  • William F., January 7, 1842, resides in Jackson County, Ohio;
  • Joseph, February 18, 1844, resides in Brown County, Kansas;
  • Nathaniel, February 18, 1844, died December 24, 1864;
  • Malinda J., July 30, 1847, resides in Jackson County, Missouri;
  • Elizabeth, July 24, 1850, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
  • Reuben, March 24, 1853, resides in Jackson County, Missouri;
  • Susan, August 21, 1856, resides in Jackson County, Missouri;
  • Cynthia, August 24, 1858, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
  • Tabitha A., March 2, 1860, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
  • John H., May 4, 1862, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio;
  • James H., on June 10, 1865, resides in Lawrence County, Ohio. 

Mr. Payton’s address is Arabia, Lawrence County, Ohio.
