Maniac Taken From Train
Willliam Weih, a Carpenter, Goes Insane on Frisco Train Tuesday Morning
Constable Ed. Hansford is figuring on taking a trip to Ironton, Ohio, one that he desires very much. The opportunity came through one William Weih, a carpenter who was taken from an east-bound Frisco passenger Tuesday morning by a raving maniac. He was accompanied by Arthur Jenkins, who hails from the same town in Ohio.
Weih was taken from the train but it took half a dozen men to hold him until the officers arrived. Marshal Jones. Constable Hansford and Deputy Marshal Greenlee went to the Frisco station and had a difficult job in getting the man to the county jail. After he had been in the trusty room for a while Weih became quiet and slept for several hours. He is about 53 years of age.
These two men, both carpenters left Ironton, Ohio, several months ago and have been working together in Oklahoma and other places. Jenkins says Weith appeared in his usual good health and spirits until a few days ago when he began to talk wildly while at work in Okla. He imagined that a gang of men sought to do him an injury.
His companion at once concluded to take him to his wife at Ironton Weih rapidly became worse and when the train arrived in Carthage he was raving and had apparently lost his mind entirely.
A telegram was received Tuesday night from relatives who wanted Weih brought to Ironton. Jenkins ‘s afraid to undertake the task alone and it is likely that a Carthage officer will take him.
