Walton Writes of Ohio People

Mr. Thomas Walton Writes of Ohio People He Has Met In the Far West.

Ironton Register, January 4, 1906.

The following letter from our old friend, T. A. Walton, who resided for years at La Belle, will be read with interest:

Victoria, Texas,  Dec. 18, 1905.

I find people from Ohio wherever I go, many from Lawrence county, Ohio.  I met Samuel Larrimer, who married an Ironton girl.  He was A. P. A. of A. T. & S. F. R. and stationed at Topeka, Kan.  He is now, I believe, with the same road.  I met a Brown in Colorado raised in Long Creek, Lawrence county, Ohio.  Chas. Massie was born in Rome township and is now in Phoenix, Ariz.

I met at Victoria, Texas, D. D. Davis, a son of David Davis, a mill man of Ironton, who is now on a farm in Scioto county.  D. D. is a well-liked roadmaster on the Victoria division of the Southern Pacific R. R..  He looks healthy and enjoys himself well.  My son C. A. Walton is here and is in the truck business.  He is called a trucker, but in Ohio would be called a gardener.

He has now growing and fine, 8 acres of Bermuda onions, 4 acres of cabbage, 1 ½ acres of lettuce, 1/8 acre of spinach, 3/8 acre of parsley and 1 acre of beets, ½ acre of string beans, 1/3 acre of peas and about ¼ acre of strawberries now in bloom and best of all nine healthy and good children.  His mother and I wintered with him last winter.  She gained 24 pounds and I 13 pounds.

If you want a country description, I will give it in another letter.

Thomas A. Walton.
