Buckeye Lovers Meet in the City and are Married – At the Manhattan hotel last evening, the marriage of Judge Elwood Payne of Chickasha, [Oklahoma?-mm?]. Miss Delia E. Cone of Suiter, Ohio, [a small community near Bradrick-mm] was solemnized by Rev. E. Hamilton, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Chickasha. The happy couple was schoolmates in the Buckeye state and, afterward, teachers when the judge decided to cast his fortunes with the great west, and two years ago, he settled at Chickasha, where he entered the practice of law.

His business grew, and he soon fell in love with his new home, but one thing was lacking: his Buckeye sweetheart’s companionship. He praised the beauties for being beheld in his new home, the great prospects that were opening up before him, how his practice made it impossible for him to return to the old homestead for his promised bride and beseeched the bride to come and share his with him.

Of course, the prospective bride desired him to return to Ohio, but as it was impossible, she finally agreed to a compromise. She would come as far as Wichita, Kan., where she had friends, and they would be married there. The plan was adopted, and yesterday the two met, and in the parlors of a Manhattan hotel, on the evening of April 29, 1896, the words that made the two as one was spoken.

The couple took the Rock Island train this morning for their home on the Washita river, and after the adjournment of the United States Court, the judge and his bride will visit the coast and the mountain scenery Rockies.

The Daily Eagle was ordered to follow them to their new home and will be a light in the new household on the Frontier.
