MAN IS ONLY FIFTY INCHES HIGH
Is Dead, Leaving to Mourn a Widow Even Shorter
The Evening Star (Independence, KS) 18 Oct. 1906
Ashland, Ohio, Oct. 18. – Luther Means, aged 56 years, the smallest man in Ashland county, if not in Ohio, died last night at his home north of Ashland. He was 50 inches in height. His body was like that of an ordinary man, and his head was abnormally large, but his legs were short and very slender. For years he was a familiar figure at county fairs and other outdoor functions. He never failed to attract attention with his silk hat, cutaway coat, and stout cane.
Means married Miss Loella Mansfield, Burlington, Lawrence County, Ohio, eight years ago. Mrs. Means is only 48 inches in height. Their weights were exactly the same day they married, 113 pounds.
