By accident, Capt. John D. George, a lawyer of this city, discovered yesterday a specimen of peculiar ore, which had been found in one of the rolling-mill coal bins, among coal dug near the Ironton tunnel, 5 miles from this city, which, on examination, proved to be a consolidated lump of pure diamonds, weighing net about 29 ounces, and is valued at $400,000. The miners found many such lumps here before but were thrown aside as worthless. Steps will be taken at once to secure sights, options, etc. The matter has created intense excitement among those who have examined the specimen.
