Seventy-Five Gallons of Mash and a Still Was Found – 13 July 1921
Ironton, July 13 – A copper worm hanging up on the kitchen wall, a copper still peeking from behind the cookstove, 75 gallons of mash “working” in a large receptacle in a corner, this was what Constable Hicks and deputies, of Bradrick, say they found when they invaded the quiet of the “Buck” Davis residence near Chesapeake. Both Mr. and Mrs. Davis were placed under arrest upon prohibition charges and lodged in the Proctorville jail.[1]
