2 March 1920 Semi-Weekly Republican
Jacob Yates, age 48, one of the principals in the revolver duel that occurred Saturday evening on the Waterloo Pike, in which Charles Richendollar, 29, was killed by Yates, died at the Roosevelt hospital at ten minutes after nine o’clock this morning from the effects of the wounds received in the clash.
The bullet which penetrated Yates’ abdominal cavity proved fatal, the injured man having aggravated its seriousness by walking quite a distance and allowing an immense amount of blood to form and it was realized from the start that the chances were decidedly against his recovery. Rev. Mr. Clark, pastor of the Central Christian Church was at the bedside of the wounded man when he died this morning.
The remains were taken in charge by O’Keefe and Company and will be prepared for burial. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
