A Silver Find in A Hilltop near South Point, Ohio
Has Silver and Tin

Portsmouth Daily Times, 15 April 1893 page 7
Columbus, Ohio April 12 – A rich vein of silver has been discovered on the hill land of Samuel Edgell of South Point. It will be extensively worked by Mr. Edgell, who has placed orders for all the necessary machinery.
The ore on the outer edge of the lode shows 36% of silver and 25% of tin, while it becomes richer as it deepens. It cannot be said yet just how extensive the find may be, but the indications are so favorable that mining preparations are being made on a large scale.
Kyle,
Thank you for your comment. Hopefully, someone will be able to answer your question.

Well after doing some research I found records of Edgell being from Perry township, https://projects.sare.org/media/pdf/9/9/0/990560fnc12-865-township-location-map.pdf (page 11)
After looking on Google maps, you can see some land just west of Bowers Lake that appears to have been cleared, with many roads throughout it. I’d guess that was where they attempted to mine at. Does anyone know why that area was cleared out and had roads put in?
Hi Darren,
No, I haven’t any more information but I would love to know where this was!
