Vinton Neal

Vinton Neal was born in Jackson County, Ohio, on March 1, 1832.  His parents, William and Catherine (Rose) Neal, settled in Lawrence County in 1834. 

Mr. Neal and Martha H. Burton were married in this county on November 9, 1851.  She was born in Putnam County, Ohio, on April 2, 1834.  Her parents are Nathaniel and Phoebe (Henson) Burton, who came to this county in 1842. 

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Neal are: 

  • William N., born October 27, 1852, resides in Aid;
  • John H., June 11, 1854, resides in Aid;
  • Phoebe J., November 9, 1856, resides in Aid;
  • James C., January 7, 1859, resides in Aid;
  • Thomas, October 19, 1861, resides in Aid,
  • Alice H., March 23, 1864, resides in Aid;
  • George B., June 19, 1866, died October 14, 1868;
  • Hattie B., July 28, 1871, resides in Aid;
  • Emma M., April 7, 1874, resides in Aid. 

Mr. Neal served as justice of the peace in Aid Township for one term; he also served as a member of the school board for ten years or more.  He is a merchant and farmer.  His post office address is Aid, Lawrence County, Ohio.
