Patten Massie came to this county with his parents on 25 December 1830. They settled on a farm of eighty acres. Patten lived with his parents until he was 22 years of age, and helped improve their land.
On September 20, 1866, he was married to Cynthia Allen, who was born in Mason Township, on May 16, 1844. He then settled on a farm of his own, containing 160 acres, which he has improved, and on which he still resides, and to which he has added forty acres more.
He is an extensive raiser of stock, besides all the products of a well-conducted farm.
His parents are Jonathan and Mary (Gore) Massie. William and Rulanna (Massie) Allen are the parents of Mrs. Massie.
The children of Mr. Massie are:
- Albert, born June 7, 1867;
- Ida, May 24, 1869;
- Sarah, October 2, 1871;
- Mertie, November 29, 1873;
- Sanford, July 20, 1876.
They all make their home in Mason Township. The birth of Mr. Massie took place on April 17, 1826. His post office address is Greasy Ridge, Lawrence County, Ohio.
