Nathan Jenkins, Jr. was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, December 31, 1852, and he was married in Ironton, this county, June 5, 1870, to Elizabeth J. Rowe, who is a native of Pike County, Kentucky, where she was born October 15, 1841.

Their children are:

  • Emma, was born February 27, 1871.
  • Evaline, May 12, 1872.
  • John W., December 13, 1873.
  • Oliver P., September 26, 1875.
  • Hannah L., December 20, 1877.
  • Charles A., February 3, 1880.

Mrs. Jenkins’ children by her first husband, James M. Gore, are:

  • Delilah J., born August 22, 1859.
  • Tabitha, June 13, 1861.
  • James M., January 29, 1864.

Mr. Gore was killed in the late war, September 29, 1864.

The parents of Mr. Jenkins are Nathan and Hannah (Webb) Jenkins.  John and Mary (Hammond) Rowe are the parents of Mrs. Jenkins.  They came to this county in 1856.

Elias and Archibald Jenkins, brothers of Nathan, were soldiers in the late war.  They served to the close when they received their honorable discharge.

After their return home, they both became members of the Baptist church.  Archibald died July 12, 1880.  Mr. Jenkins joined the Baptist church in 1872, and in 1880 he was authorized to preach the gospel and officiates in that capacity at present for the regular Baptist church.

He was elected clerk of Lawrence Township in the spring of 1882.  Mr. Jenkins is engaged in farming in this township.  His post office address is Rock Camp, Lawrence County, Ohio.
