Another Pioneer Woman is Dead

In the passing away of Mrs. Hester Aiken at her daughter’s residence, Mrs. J. J. Sirey of 290 Thirteenth Street, Friday, February 4, Oregon loses another of the hardy pioneer women who helped to build up the commonwealth.
Mrs. Aiden was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, in 1838 and came to Oregon in 1853, settling near Albany.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel M. Aiken, and three daughters, Mrs. Sirey, Mrs. R. Schmeer, and Mrs. W. L. Mack. Three sons, John J., Frank O., and Ed Knox.
Four grandsons and three granddaughters are living. Funeral services will be held at the Skewes parlors, Third and Clay Streets, and interment will be made later. Rev. J.A. Leas will officiate.
