JUDGE ANDREW DEMPSEY – Associate Judge
Ironton Register, Thursday, July 29, 1852 – Death of Son.
Casualty on the 27th inst., Mr. J. W. Dempsey of the firm of Dempsey, Rodgers & Ellison, Etna Fce., also of the firm of Dempsey & Co., Vesuvius Fce., and Manager of the latter furnace, met with an accident. We understand that preparations were making for changing the furnace from cold blast to hot blast and that the men were engaged in raising the poles of shears on top of the bank near the stack…. Mr. Dempsey was the son of the late Judge Andrew Dempsey of this county, aged about 35 years of age and unmarried.
