Obituary of Mrs. Eliza A. Wortman

Mrs. Eliza A. [Stumbo] Wortman, the widow of the late Jacob Wortman and mother of H. C. Wortman of the firm of Olds, Wortman & King, died yesterday at her home in McMinnville. Mrs. Wortman was 84 years old, having been born near Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio, in 1830.
When a young girl, Eliza moved with her parents to Iowa and married Jacob Wortman in 1850. In 1852, they crossed the plains and settled on a ranch in the Willamette Valley near Oregon City. Later, they moved to Canemah, Lane County, and McMinnville, where Mr. Wortman was engaged in the banking business until he died in 1904.
Eliza Wortman is survived by three sons, John Wortman, president of the First National Bank, of McMinnville; Dr. J. L. Wortman, of Brownsville, Tex; and H. C. Wortman, of Olds, Wortman & King, Portland. The funeral services will be held today at 2 o’clock at the family home in McMinnville.
Eliza Wortman’s Interment will be made in the Masonic Cemetery there.
