Henry McDaniel

Even though Henry McDaniel served from Gallia County, Ohio, I am adding it to my list because of the proximity of Walnut Township and Lawrence County, Ohio. Plus, some of his descendants later moved to Lawrence County, Ohio. This is not a completed transcription of the entire records, and I am sure many mistakes have been made. These records are extremely hard to read. Please refer to the original records for your own interpretation.

  • 23 Sept 1832, Court of Common Pleas, Gallia County, Ohio Henry McDaniel, resident of Walnut Township, Gallia County, Ohio, age 69, was sworn to the court that he enlisted in the service of the Revolutionary War in the Spring of 1779.

  • I enlisted in Bedford County, VA, in Capt. Thomas Arthur Company and Regiment commanded by Col. Lynch, commonly called “Lynches Rangers.”
  • I served in battle at Kings Mountain, which included a wound in my thigh….

  • I was then called back to our Regiment and employed as heretofore until the taking of Cornwall’s, which I think was in Oct. 1781, when I was discharged. I returned to Greenbriar County, VA, where my parents had moved after my enlistment.

  • I was born in Pittsylvania County, VA, in Nov. 1763. I have no record of my age. I continued to live in Greenbriar until 1810, when I moved to Walnut Township in the county of Gallia and the state of Ohio, where I have every since remained…. But no of no one that I can prove my services by, unless it may be by William Gallaspy, who resides in Meigs county [Ohio].
