Military Burial Registry

The following list of Military Burial Registry are records from Lawrence County, Ohio, Cemetery Books sold in 1999 by the late Julian Barnett, Perry Campbell, and the late Tom Clutters. Perry gave me copies of the books after Tom and Julian’s passing and told me I could have them to help our website.

Military Burial Registry

The Military Burial Registry inscriptions are incomplete and only cover 1999.  Tom and Julian passed away before the list was completed. They always wanted to honor those who have served our country by making these available. I have since given these records to the Lawrence County OGS for them to sell as a fundraiser for the Society.

I am looking for two family members who served with the 191st OVI Company B . Their names are Moses L McCoy and Elkannah or Elkana F McCoy. Both lived on a farm owned by a Wm G Hunt and raised Sheep with their father.

These two men served at Camp Chase. Enlisted Feb 1865. Moses became ill with the measeles and it is noted in records from the national Archives that he died at the Columbus Ohio hospital. Moses body was sent home with his brother Elkannah accompanying him . Back to Ironton where the lived.
Elkannah became ill while at home along with their mother and a baby brother David.

This family lost four members in less than two weeks.

I would like to find this entire family More than likely they are all buried together . But where.

    Thank you
    Iva Kressler
