Cat Lane Kleszczelski: My Mom grew up on Elm St & N. 4th Street in the ’30s-’50s. She shared a story about how a small airplane would swoop down over a nearby field to drop mail & scoop up bundles for delivery. She loved watching it & listening to the Powhatan train in her childhood. Does anyone else remember?
Fred Head: My family grew up in Sedgwick, and I have heard them talk about a small plane that would fly low and swoop a bag of mail from a high post or cable that was in a field down near where the grade school was built on Delaware St. I assume that would have happened in the ’30s and early ’40s!
