West Ironton Ohio

  • IR Dec. 1, 1853 – Rev. J. M. Kelly has laid out and offers for sale about fifty desirable building lots in West Ironton, Ohio, on the river, immediately below Smith’s lots.  The ground is all acquainted now, is level and beautifully situated.
  • GP 1949 – I. B. Murdock lived in West Ironton and was a wharf master for many years.  [one of the first volunteer firemen in 1858]
  • IR Aug. 25, 1870 – Adv. – Valuable City Property For Sale. – One lot with two houses thereon, in the upper end of West Ironton, Ohio, comprising the point at the mouth of Storms Creek.  W. D. Richards.
  • IR Apr. 25, 1872 – West Ironton numbers seven grocers.  Among the latest established is John K. Smith.
  • IR June 10, 1873 – West Ironton has a movement on foot to establish a church below the bridge.
  • IR Dec. 3, 1874 – T. A. Cooper proposes to build a fine residence on his lot below West Ironton.
  • IR Dec. 3, 1874 – Reuben Walters is building a West Ironton, Ohio, residence.
  • IR Aug. 1884 – The Water Works is erecting a watering trough in West Ironton, Ohio, by Mr. Mathew’s place.
