Kelly Building Association

IR Mar. 16, 1871 – When the Kelly Land Association throws their lots into the market, real esate proposes to decline.

IR July 13, 1871 – The Kelly Building Association have now ready for sale about 250 building lots in the most desirable part of the city.

IR Mar. 14, 1872 – The Kelly Building Association have about 170 town lots for sale.

IR July 18, 1872 – Park. – At the Council last Friday night, a proposition from the Kelly Building Association was presented, which provided for a donation of about two acres of their land for the purpose of a public park. 

The principal conditions were that the ground should be well-fenced in, and the streets around it graded and macadamized.  The proposition was laid over, till the next regular meeting, and the Engineer was instructed in the meantime to estimate the cost of the fencing and streets.

IR Sept. 11, 1873 – The Kelly Building Association made 50 percent dividend, in real estate, yesterday.  About 70 lots were thus disposed of.  About 150 are still on hand.

IR Dec. 28, 1899 – The transfer of the Kelly land, including the fair grounds, sold to J. C. Snyder, trustee, for $18,000, was made Tuesday evening, and an organization of Ironton men has been practically consummated to handle the property. 

As a company can not be incorporated to deal in real estate, the organization will be in the nature of a firm.  The land purchased, with the exception of the fair grounds will be laid off into town lots, new streets and alleys opened up, and other steps taken to improve the land the vicinity.  All deeds will be signed by J. C. Snyder, trustee, but there will be twelve to fifteen men interested in the property.
