Gregory Family Scottown, Ohio

Below is an unlabelled photo that I believe to be from the Scottown area of Lawrence County, Ohio. The person on the left resembles a different photo of John Gregory, but I’m not sure if that is who it is. Any info is welcome. Thank you.

If the man is John Gregory, he was born in 1884. Perhaps the photo is from between 1905 – 1910? John had a brother Francis (b.1879) (my GG Grandfather), and two half brothers, Cecil (b.1888) & Clarence (b.1891). I wondered if this might be the 4 of them together. The photo below shows John Gregory in the middle with his father, Jacob, and his stepmother, Lorinda Kingery.

Comment from Carl Murdock: I had a great Aunt, Carrie Murdock, who married Cecil Gregory. They lived near Scottown. They are probably part of the same family.

Comment from Dawn Mergenthaler: Yes, this is the same family! Cecil is a half-brother to John. They share the same father, Jacob. Jacob was remarried to Lorinda Kingery (Cecil’s mother) after Jacob’s first wife died. Lorinda and Jacob knew each other, however. They were married to Watsons, Cornelius, and Sarah (brother and sister), who both died young. Do you think any one of the men might be Cecil?

Comment from Carl Murdock: I can’t say, as I only saw him a few times, and when I did, he was a much older man. I don’t even remember what he even looked like.

Comment from Sue Higgins Blagg: I lived about a mile from the Gregory Family on Polkadotte Creek. Marshall and Marjorie had a brother named Carl. Marjorie and Millard Rose had two children, Leland and Patty. Carl Murdock, you probably know Patty Rose. She was in my class at Scottown and moved around in the seventh grade. I knew Cecil and his second wife, Minnie, very well. Glen, are you Leland’s son?

Comment from Glen Rose: my grandfather Millard Rose was married to Marjorie Gregory..I had all of the rose family histories from when we came from Europe to here and all of the dates..my grandfather passed it all down to me…and Marshal Gregory was my grandmother’s brother.

Comment from Dawn Mergenthaler: Oh yes. I have Collis, Marjorie, Carl, Marshall, and Nellie as children of Cecil and Carrie. We share Jacob Gregory as our GG Grandfather (Cecil’s father). I’d also welcome connecting on the Gregory line, and I will send a PM.
