Notes for DANIEL BRUBAKER:

Daniel Brubaker seems to have been a Justice of the Peace.  I have seen him listed in several places where he performed marriages in Lawrence Co., Ohio.

Daniel Brubaker served on a grand jury in 1818 and was a Lawrence Co., Commissioner in the 1820s.{taken from “History of Lawrence Co., Ohio  1990 page 305}

Daniel Brubaker came west from the Shenandoah Valley on horseback with a bag of money hidden in his bedroll to buy land in Perry Township at the mouth of Solida Creek.  He first ran a grinding mill, then later a sawmill.  {taken from “History of Lawrence Co., Ohio 1990 page 99}

Ironton Register

Brubaker, James—IRONTON  Jan 26 1865

James Brubaker, a young man of about 18 years and son of Daniel Brubaker of Perry Township, died last Friday with all the symptoms of hydrophobia.  During the mad dog excitement in this county in October, he received a bite from a dog.  The dog was killed for his viciousness, though slightly suspected of madness.

Up to within a few days of his death, the health of the deceased had been, as usual, with the exception that the week previous, he had accidentally cut himself on the knee and had been confined to the house on account of the wound.  His constant thirst and great aversion to water gave a sure indication of the dreadful end that awaited him.

During his last hours, he suffered extremely, requiring force to keep him on his bed during his ravings.  He thought that if he could only “drink a draught of good water,” he would get well. He remained apparently in his right mind till death relieved him.

The Brubaker Cemetery is located in Fayette Township on the hill off CR18, 1/4 mile northeast of the junction with US 52

                      xvii.     HELEN BRUBAKER, b. January 26, 1847, Lawrence, Ohio.
