JUDGE REUBEN KELLEY – Associate Judge 14 years 1829 – 1843

Judge Reuben Kelley, of Platte Co., Mo., who for many years lived on what is now known as the “Dempsey Farm” below Hanging Rock, and who was associate Judge in this county for 14 years, from February 10, 1829, to February 10, 1843, has been here on a visit to his relatives and old friends for a week or two past. He is in good health and spirits and is highly gratified to be permitted once more to visit Lawrence county.
States that Judge Reuben Kelly, now living near Plattsburg, Missouri, was the son of Luke and Mary (Keyser) Kelley, who were both born and raised in what is now Page county, Virginia, the former of Irish parents and the latter (Mary Keyser), of German, and who were married young and quite poor. Reuben Kelly is buried in Medill Cemetery, Clark County, Missouri.
