Sarah Ballard 5 March 1857
Know all men by these presents that We, Samuel Ballard and Mary Ballard, wife of the said Samuel Ballard, in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars in hand paid by Sarah Ballard of the county of Lawrence and State of Ohio, hereby promise to release and forever quitclaim unto the, said Sarah Ballard, her heirs and assigns forever all our right title and interest and estate legal and equitable in the following premises with the appurtenances situate in the County of Lawrence and state of Ohio and bounded as follows to Wit:
The east half of the South West quarter of section thirty-two Township One of Range eighteen contains seventy-nine acres and 0/100.
The testimony thereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 5th day of March 1857.

Before William Layne a Justice of the peace in and for said county personally appeared the within named Samuel Ballard and Mary, his Wife, and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the within conveyance to be their voluntary act and deed and that Mary being at the same time examined by me Separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of the said instrument made known to her by me she then and declared that she did voluntarily sign and seal and acknowledge the same and that she is still satisfied therewith this 5th day of March AD 1857.
