John Ballard 200 -4 S 62
Know all men by these presents that J. A. Errick of the County of Lawrence and the State of Ohio, in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars in hand paid by John Ballard of said County and State, have bargained and sold and do hereby grant bargain, sell & convey unto the said John Ballard, his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situated in the county of Lawrence in the State of Ohio and bounded and described as follows to wit:
Commencing at stake in the said J. A. Shepherd and Johnston line running east to a stake at corner of John Stanley lot, thence south to a stake in Davidson, & line thence west to a stake in said line of Shepherd and Davidson, thence north to the place of beginning.
Containing one-fourth of an acre. To have and to hold said premises with the appurtenances unto the said John Ballard his heirs and assigns forever and the said act Errick for himself & heirs doth hereby covenant with said John Ballard his heirs and resigns that he is lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid that the premises are free and clear of all encumbrances whatsoever and that he will forever warrant and defend the same with the appurtenances unto the said John Ballard, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever, said Land is in Section 5 township one Range 17 Lot 14.
In testimony whereof the said act Errick and Harriet Errick, his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this 4th day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two. Signed, sealed, and acknowledged in the presence of

Before me Samuel Brown, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, personally appeared the within named J. A. Errick and Harriet Errick, his wife, and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the foregoing conveyance to be their voluntary act and deed. And the said Harriet Errick being at the same time examined by me separate and apart from her said husband, and the contents of the said instrument made known to here by me, she then and there declared that she did voluntarily sign, seal and acknowledge the same and that she is still satisfied therewith this 4th day of Sept. 1863.
