The First Baptist Church in Burlington, Ohio, was built in 1843 on a lot donated by the Joseph Adkins family. The First Minister was Alexander Shirkley. The present church was built in 1888 with contributions from residents of the vicinity.
Sam R. Clark donated the seats: He got them from the Baptist Church in Pomeroy, Ohio. The building committee was Mayo Tubbs, Byron Story, and Dr. Campbell.
The first organization was Baptists and was later used as a Community Church. The first minister was J.W. Martin. The first wedding was on 22 April 1896 between John W. Wynn and Grace Southard.
