  • SCHOOL REMAINS IDLE – Firebrick Hit By Scarlet Fever, Whooping Cough IRONTON, March 12 — After being closed for more than two weeks, it still is impossible to reopen the Firebrick grade school because of the number of scarlet fever and whooping cough cases in that section.   • RETURN TO SCHOOL – Health Official Reports On Blackfork Area Dr. J. W. Payne, Lawrence county health commissioner, said Monday that there was no reason for alarm from diphtheria in the Blackfork sector and lie urged all parents who are keeping their children out of school to send the children to classes. One hundred forty-five children in the school were immunized against the disease during the last week by the health office, and others will be similarly treated upon returning to school. Only two cases of the disease were reported in the district, and no new cases have developed, it was announced. Fifteen children in the Firebrick school were immunized. Thelma Robinson, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Robinson of Aarons Creek, is recovering from diphtheria. Dr. A. J. Payne of Waterloo is treating her.
