John Frampton was a Revolutionary War Veteran born on 14 January 1744 in Trenton, NJ. In 1780, he married Anna Barbara Martin, born on 19 March 1749 in Germany. After John died on 6 April 1808 in Beaver, Pa., his wife, Anna Barbara Martin Frampton, moved to Burlington, Ohio, with her children, who settled here. Just a few years after moving here, Anna died in August 1822 at Burlington, Ohio, and is buried in the Burlington Greenlawn Cemetery.
John and Anna B. Martin Frampton had eight (six listed below) children; all were tall and well-proportioned. Rachel, Ephraim, Elijah, Martin, Isaac, Edward Hunt, Sarah, and William were born in Pennsylvania. Five of their children became successful while living in Lawrence County, Ohio:
- 1781 Rachel Frampton Gillen, b. 11 November 1781 in Lewistown Mifflin, Pennsylvania, died on 1 November 1854 LCO. Married William Gillen 1782-1841 on 28 February 1804 Allegheny Co., Pa. They had nine children:

- 1808 Sarah Gillen 1808-1878;
- 1810 Emily Gillen 1810-1887;

- 1825 Samuel Gillen 1825-1903. All children b. Pa. except for Mary Jan b. 5 June 1819 LCO

- 1786 Elijah Frampton (1) (Photo courtesy of A.K. Stoddard) was born on 20 April 1786 in Lewistown Mifflin, Pennsylvania, and died on 23 January 1877 in Avon, Fulton County, Illinois. He married Rebecca Clark (1798-1827) on 22 October 1822 in Burlington, Lawrence County, Ohio. Soon after Rebecca’s death, he married his second wife, Lucinda Trowbridge, on 8 May 1828. [Lawrence County, Ohio, Marriage Book 1-2-3, page 103]. His family was listed in the 1840 Lawrence County, Ohio, census. By the 1850 census, he and his family had moved to Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, where he died 23 January 1877, age 91. He had many occupations, including civil engineer, surveyor, and boating on the Ohio River. While on one of his trips to New Madrid, Missouri, the great earthquake caused all the men on the boat to fall to their knees and pray. He attended a Methodist meeting at Burlington, Ohio, and was converted. 1819, he moved his whole family to Burlington, Ohio, on his flatboat. He gave up boating and became a Methodist preacher. In the Spring of 1845, he went to Quincy, Illinois, resumed boating for a while, and finally opened a store in Quincy. He was a large, tall man, 6 feet and 2 inches. They had seven children, three of whom were girl triplets who died the day after they were born:

- 1824 William Walker Frampton b. 1824 Chillicothe, Ohio, and he died on 29 May 1912 in DeSoto, Kansas. He enlisted in Co. I, 12th, Kansas Inf., serving three years. Just before his discharge, his wife eloped with a married neighbor, and on his return home after his divorce, he married the deserted wife of the eloper. By his first wife. Photo of W.W. - 1829 Elijah Frampton (2) was born in Ohio m. Sarah Hanan lived most of his life in Avon, Ill.
- 1830 John M. Frampton b. 22 October 1830 in Burlington, Ohio. He wrote an autobiography later in life. Their first cook stove was freighted in 1841, costing $60. Two years later, his father bought an Ohio River boat and, with his family, started for Louisiana. He describes his delightful terror in shooting the Louisville Falls on the way. In 1845, he came to Quincy, Illinois, and attended the same school where his son, Mendal, was a pupil over forty years later. 25 December 1872, he married Amanda Whittaker. They had two children, Mendel, a professor at Pomona College, and John Ross, a professor at Cedar Falls, Iowa. In 1906, he moved to Claremont.

- 1788 Martin Frampton was born on 13 June 1788 in Lewistown, Mifflin, Pennsylvania, and died on 16 December 1856 in Lawrence County, Ohio. He married Sarah Mann in 1818 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and moved to Lawrence County, Ohio, where they had eleven children. Martin and his family were recorded in the 1820-1850 Lawrence County, Ohio, census. His wife, Sarah Mann Frampton, died in 1869. They had ten children:

- 1824 Elizabeth Isabell Frampton m. Joseph Davidson later moved to Illinois.
- 1827 Rachel Zanetta Frampton m. Samuel Camp Johnson (1) and later lived in Huntington, WV. Children: Lucius, Fred, Frank, Jessie, Alice, Emily, and Sarah Florence.
- 1828 Martin Mann Frampton m. Melissa Staley moved to Champaign, Illinois.

- 1835 James Robert Frampton m. Rachel Lemley. James was blind. He died on 14 November 1905 in Lawrence County, Ohio. His children: Rachel, Eustace, Gardner, Fred, Frank Wolful, Gertrude, and Sarah Ethel.
- 1837 Caroline Gertrude Frampton m. Seliman Johnson lived in Huntington, WV—no known children.
- 1790 Isaac Frampton (1) was born on 20 November 1790 in Lewistown, PA, and married Jane Mann in Lawrence County on 16 November 1826. He later bought a large farm on the Ohio River in Wayne County, WV, and moved on it. In 1848, Isaac purchased 269 acres of land on the river above Four Pole, Cabell County. Isaac died in Cabell County, WV, on 19 July 1859; he was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Burlington, Ohio. They had five children:
- 1827 James Williams Frampton died when he was two years old in 1829, buried in Burlington Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington, Ohio.
- 1830 Ephraim Frampton m. Nancy Mann Woods. He died in Illinois in 1883. His wife, Nancy Frampton, died in Illinois in 1920.
- 1832 David Whitcomb Frampton (1) Clara Beams. He lived in Guyadotte, WV, and died in 1861. He is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Burlington, Ohio. His children:

- 1834 Hiram Frampton lived in Ceredo, Wayne County, WV., and died in 1864. He is buried in Burlington, Ohio’s Greenlawn Cemetery.
- 1836 Rebecca Frampton married Charles F. Everett and lived in Guyandotte, WV., with several children. In the 1860 census, Isaac Frampton, age 16, lived with them. She died in Chicago, Illinois.
- 1841 Isaac Frampton (2) never married. He died in 1860 and is buried in Burlington Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington, Ohio.
- 1796 Sarah Frampton b. 1798 m. (1) William Lane in 1820. After his death, she married (2) John Bryan in 1827. She owned S. Bryan Co. in Burlington, Ohio when Sarah Bryan died. Her children:
- William Henry Bryan lived in Anderson, Ind. Had ten children, six d. in infancy
- John Bryan had no children
- Isaac Bryan had no children
- Isabel Bryan d. 21 years old
- Sarah Bryan m. Joseph Davidson 1852. Children:
- Clarence M. Davidson d. 1911
- Joseph V. Davidson, Chesapeake, Ohio, had a fruit orchard
- Clarence M. Davidson, Chesapeake, Ohio, had a fruit orchard
- 1798 William Frampton was born on 29 September 1798 in Pennsylvania and moved to Burlington, Ohio. He died unmarried without any known children.

Know all men by these presents that Isaac Frampton and Jane Frampton, wife of said Isaac Frampton of the county of Wayne and state of Virginia, in consideration for the sum of six thousand dollars to us in hand paid by Simeon, Violet, Abraham, Ambrose, Walker, Charlotte, Barbara, Horace, Susan, Short John, Maria, Jane, Beck, Henry, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Ellen, Lucy Ann, Persilla, Eleanor, Edmund, Daniel, Cilla (daughter of said Jane), Alexander (son of said Beck), Nancy, Julia, William (son of said Nancy) Charles, William, Lewis, Washington, Lawrence, Albert, Yellow John, Bob, Noah, and Winna during their natural lives and then to their heirs, forever, for the following premises situate in the County of Lawrence and the state of Ohio and the township of Fayette and scribed as follows:
- The East part of fractional section No. 2 in Range No. 17 and Township No. 1.
- Beginning at a stake on the Ohio two hundred and forty-three poles easterly by the said river from the South West corner of the said fractional section at the South East corner of Barton’s heirs land thence running North 69 degrees East one hundred thirty-three and two-thirds poles to a stake the South West corner of land formerly owned by Yager now owned George Kouns, thence due North along said Kouns line to the back line of the said fractional section to a stake, since West on the said back line to such a point as will be running due South therefrom intersects the stake of place beginning, thence from said point South to said first mentioned stake, the place of beginning.
- Excepting and serving out of the about granted premises, the following parcels of land heretofore sold and surveyed by William ad to wit: 5½ acres to Elijah Frampton.
- Also, 6 acres, 2 rods, and one pole to William C. Johnson, the above two described tracts are taken from the South West corner of said tract = containing one hundred and fifty-four acres or less.
- Also, the South-East quarter of the North-West Quarter of Section 35 Township 2 of Range 17, saving and excepting one acre out of the North-West corner, was sold to Arty Carter, and one acre was sold to Abner Johnson off the West side of said tract.
- Also, one acre of the same side was sold to Anna Robinson, containing forty-one acres more or less. Also subject to a life lease heretofore grant to Samuel Blankenship and wife for about 15 acres on said lot.
- Also part of the South West quarter of the North East quarter of Section 35 Township 2 of Range 17 being all that part the said quarter section that lies South of the top of the ridge:
- Commencing at the corner of the said Isaac Frampton and ( ) Randall the center corner of Section 35, thence North with the West line of the said quarter to the top of the ridge about 35 rods to a stake about one rod West of a Black Locust 12 inches in diameter, thence Easterly along the top of said ridge flowing the marked or blazed trees the meander of the top of said ridge till it strikes the East line of the said quarter about 1 rod or blao the South East corner thereof to a Hickory tree 8 inches in diameter, thence South to the s about 10 rods west of the said quarter, thence West along South line of the said quarter to the place of beginning containing by estimation twenty acres more or less.
- Also, the West half of the South West quarter of Section 35 Township 2 Range 17 contained 87 acres and 14/100.
- Also, the South East? of the South West quarter of Section 35 Township 2 Range 17 contained 88 acres and 72/100.
- Also, the South West quarter of the South West quarter of Section 35 Township 2 Range 17 contained 43 acres and 22/100.
