Pancake Family
Three sons and two daughters were originally from Germany and settled in Eastern Virginia. The exact location is unknown in Virginia. Abraham PANCAKE, the eldest of the three sons, was married to Lucinda DUNN in Virginia in the early Spring of 1759. Upon their journey west, the three brothers crossed the Blue Ridge Mountains into what is now known as West Virginia.

William Weih
Constable Ed. Hansford is figuring on taking a trip to Ironton, Ohio, one that he desires very much. The opportunity came through one William Weih, a carpenter who was taken from an east-bound Frisco passenger Tuesday morning by a raving maniac. He was accompanied by Arthur Jenkins, who hails from the same town in Ohio.
Isaac Yates
Isaac Yates and Polly A. Neal were married in this county on January 6, 1870. They were both born in this county; he is 1851, and his wife in 1855.
Capt. J.W. Earles
After forty-eight years in Webb City, Capt. J. W. Earles age 91 years of 111 south Ball Street passed away from infirmities incident to age.
Ohio Baptist Assocation
In the year 1819, the Ohio Baptist Association was formed. It consisted of churches in Lawrence, Gallia, Jackson, and Scioto counties. One of these churches was composed of members living in both Jackson and Gallia counties,

Seldon (Sheldon) Peters was a noted maker of the “Kentucky Long Rifle” who lived at Getaway in Lawrence County, Ohio, from 1845 until his death on 3 January 1909.
Christian Yingling
Christian Yingling was born in western Pennsylvania, on April 24, 1788, and died September 12, 1856. His wife, Martha Lee, was born in Patrick County, Virginia, on August 2, 1795, and died on May 8, 1877.
William Wilgus
William Wilgus was born in Union township, where Proctorville now stands. He was raised on his father’s farm, where he remained up to 1845, when they both entered into the produce trade on the Ohio river, plying between St. Martinsville and Pattersonville.
Charles Worthington
Charles Worthington and Rachel Cartwright were married on September 18, 1834. He is a native of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where he was born in 1813. He came to Lawrence County in 1836.
Isaac Winters
Isaac Winters was the son of Mathias and Rebecca (Brubaker) Winters, who was born in Lawrence County, on August 26, 1830. His parents came to this county in 1815. His father died in 1834, and his mother in 1877.
Vietnam Veterans
This page is for the heroes that served in the Vietnam War. My brother, Stephen H. Martin was one of those heroes. I remember the feeling of him leaving, never knowing if we would see him again. My mother prayed for many hours which turned into days, then months. Thankfully her prayers were answered when ten months later we met him on the tarmac at the Tr-State Airport in Huntington, WV. This page is for him and all the others that served in Vietnam War.
Donald R. Long Medal of Honor
Sgt. Donald R. Long was serving as an assistant platoon leader in the 1st Infantry Division when his unit was attacked by a heavily supported Vietcong regiment. He inspired his comrades by repeatedly exposing himself to enemy fire while assisting the wounded and by fearlessly standing unprotected to repel the attacker with rifle fire and grenade.
Silas Wilks
Silas Wilks was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, on June 12, 1838, in which county he was married on January 3, 1867, to Carolina M. Munsell, who was also born in this county, on November 25, 1846.
