Fred Vinson and Ruby Osborn were married at Catlettsburg, Ky. – Jan. 16, 1909. J.B. Jarrell and Sallie Stafford married March 5, 1936.

Page 1 – Thomas & Phereby Ferguson lived in Wayne Co., W. Va – he died about 1890 at an advanced age. She died about 1901.

Martha Jane Ferguson, daughter of Thomas & Phereby was married to Samuel Roberts about 1860; to this union were born Phereby Belle, John, Mellon, Cora, Tilden, Willie & Poly. She died in Dec. 1896. Samuel Roberts died about August ? 1930 in Okla.

Phereby Belle Roberts, born Dec. 1, 1861, was married to Amon C. McComas in 1877 in Wayne Co., W. Va.
Amon C. McComas, born Aug. 12, 1858, son of Joel & Martha McComas, was a school and music teacher born and raised in Ironton, Ohio.

Page 2 – [Amon C. McComas was] married to Phereby Belle Roberts in 1877. To this union were born John Clayton (April 25, 1878) and Lutie Alice (Aug. 27, 1880). In 1884 he moved with his family to Ottawa, Kansas. There, he and Phereby separated. He married a woman, Maude Straby, in Kansas City, Mo. To
this union was born a daughter, Gertrude.

In a short time he again married – this time to Louisa Lycans of Wayne Co., W. Va. and to this union was born a daughter, Marie Deccah. He died on April 14, 1893, age 34 years.

Joel McComas (father of Amon) was the son of Sartin McComas, an Emigrant from Ireland, of Scotch-Irish descent – a ‘hard-shell’ Baptist preacher who lived in Ohio, near Huntington, W. Va., and died there.

Page 3 – Martha McComas (mother of Amon C.) was a daughter of Jackson Wilson and Nancy Lycans Wilson, [and] mother of 3 children – Nan, Amon C., and John A. Nan married Pat Saunders and lived about 30 miles from Ironton, Ohio – raised a large family.

John married Libby Sloane and raised 7 children. John Clayton McComas was born April 25, 1878, in Wayne County, W. Va. – Married – Louisa Thompson on Thanksgiving day 1898. To this union was born a daughter, Ethel. Louisa died Feb. 27, 1900 and Ethel [died on] March 11th of the same year.
John C. McComas married Nannie Jarrell on Oct. 5, 1900; to this union were born [cont. on page 4]

Page 4 – Earl Curtis (July 17, 1901), Esther Lee (May 24, 1904), Alton Brooks (July 4, 1906) – all were born in Wayne County, W. Va.

John C. and his family moved to Huntington, W. Va. where at the Washington Ave. Baptist Church under the preaching of Rev. Roscoe Murry, he was saved on Nov. 4, 1913. Later realizing the call to the ministry, he moved to Louisville, Ky. and entered the Sou. Bap. Theo. Sem. [Southern Baptist Theological Seminary] in 1918. After 1 year, he was called as Pastor of the Emmanuel Bap. Church of Jeff., Ind. [Jeffersonville, Indiana] and moved to this city. There, Esther Lee was married to John M. Reisinger on Jan. 2, 1922; to this union were born John Melvin (Sept. 5, 1922) [cont. on page 5]

PAGE 5 – Robert Lee (March 7, 1924) and Charles Raymond (April 22, 1926). John M. & Esther Lee Reisinger bought a home in Midway, near Jeff., Ind. in 1924 and sold same to John C. & Nannie McComas on Nov. 1, 1928. Earl C. McComas & Anna D. Wallace of Louisville were married July 27, 1929 in the Walnut St. Bap. Church, Louisville, by Dr. Finley F. Gibson, Pastor. Alton B. McComas and Anna Mae Emery of New Albany, Ind. were married Dec. 24, 1930 by Alton’s father at his (father’s) own home in Midway. Born to this union on March 24, 1932 – A. Brooks, a fine 8 1/2 lb. boy.

PAGE 6 – Mrs. Phereby Belle Wilson, formerly wife of Amon C. McComas, wife of Rev. P.H. Wilson, and mother of John C. McComas and Lutie Ball separated this life at Fort Gay, W. Va., Feb. 22, 1931. Dear mother went home to be with Jesus – I expect to see her there someday. Rev. P.H. Wilson, husband of Phereby Belle, died Jan. 19, 1932. The home is gone, vanished forever. ‘Daddy,’ a Baptist preacher, has gone home to be with the Lord and all his loved ones. To Alton & Anna Mae McComas was born on Jan. 22, 1934 Myra Lee, a daughter.

PAGE 7 – Lutie Alice McComas, sister of John C. McComas, born Aug. 27, 1880 in Wayne Co., W. Va., married Tilden Watts, son of Albert Watts, on Nov. 6, 1896 in Wayne Co., W. Va. To this union was born Cecil B. on Oct. 18, 1897. Cecil married Beulah Thompson on Aug. 26, 1918; to this union was born S. J.
on June 5, 1919 (died on Jan. 9, 1920), Sylvester – born Dec. 5, 1921, Sanford – born Aug. 18, 1924, Maxine – born Dec. 8, 1927. Tilden Watts died Nov. 10, 1926. Lutie Alice Watts married T.W. Ball of Mattie, Ky. on Dec. 21, 1927. Beulah, wife of Cecil Watts, died Aug. 14, 1934; she was a fine, Christian
woman.

Tilden Watts was born in Wayne Co., W. Va. on Dec. 12, 1876 – nearly 50 years old at Death.
Beulah Thompson Watts was born in Wayne Co., W. Va. on March 31, 1900 – over 34 years old at Death.
T.W. Ball was born on Jan. 22, 1879. Lutie Ellen Watts, daughter of Cecil & Beulah Watts, was born in Ohio on Dec. 19, 1929, and died Dec. 30, 1929 – age 11 days.

PAGE 8 – Polly, wife of John B. Jarrell, died in Huntington, W. Va. on May 17, 1936. Mary Ann Ross Jarrell, wife of Samuel V. Jarrell, died in Huntington, W. Va. in Feb. 1937. Esther, only daughter of John C. and Nannie Jarrell McComas, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 2, 1940. We believe she has gone home to be with our Lord. She was 36 years, 6 months and 8 days old.

PAGE 9 [Erroneously, I believe, marked as page 8] – Tom W. Ball departed this life at noon, Sat., Nov. 1, 1941. We mourn his going, but believe he has gone home to rest. Rev. P.H. Wilson, step-father of John C. McComas & Lutie Alice McComas Watts Ball, was born in Wayne County, W. Va. on May 27, 1866. Aunt Cora Harris, mother’s only sister, died Oct. 14, 1940, and Uncle Will Harris departed this life Sept. ? 1944 – both were Christians. Uncle John Roberts, mother’s oldest brother, died Dec. 1, 1945. He was almost
80 years of age. Rev. P.H. Wilson & Phereby Roberts McComas were married Feb. 12, 1890.

GENEALOGY [on John Clayton’s wife, Nannie Jarrell McComas]
PAGE 1 – John Jarrell (Grandfather) lived in Wayne Co., W. Va. about 8 1/2 miles from Fort Gay. W. Va., was a Baptist preacher (and great old man) and died in the summer of 1888. Moses D. Jarrell (son of John) lived and died in Wayne County, W. Va. near his father’s home on Mill Creek. He was a school teacher in his younger days, a notary public, and Postmaster of Effie Post Office, was well-informed and sought by people far and near for advice on many matters. He was one of the leaders of the Pleasant Baptist Church near his home. He died at the advanced age of 91 yrs in the year of 1925 (July 2).

PAGE 2 – Nannie Jarrell, daughter of Moses D. and Mille Roe Jarrell, was born on Oct. 31, 1877, in Mill Creek, Wayne Co., W. Va. She was the youngest of 10 children – Victoria, Mary, John B., Samuel V., Isabel, William B., Lafayette, Thursa, & Maude. She became a member of Pleasant Baptist Church at the age of 12 yr. She married John C. McComas (also of Mill Creek, Wayne Co., W. Va.) on Oct. 5, 1900. To this union were born Earl Curtis McComas (May 24, 1901) and Alton Brooks McComas (July 4, 1906) – all born at Mill Creek, Wayne Co., W. Va. The family moved to Huntington in 1910 and to Louisville, Ky.
