Ironton Tribune, Aug. 16, 1905

Sister Mary J. Ellis, wife of James Ellis, was born May 10, 1849. Died July 31, 1905. Age 56y, 2m, and 21days. She was converted and joined the Union Baptist church in 1872. Her life was that of a kind and affectionate companion and a good and loving mother. He last words were, "Jesus is with me."
She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her loss, three boys and six girls. May they ever walk in the Christian path and meet her in heaven.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.B. Cooper at the Baptist church at Bradrick on Wed. Aug 2.
