SAVAGE, Sarah, Miss       I.R. Jun 21, 1855
Died on the 15th inst., in Ironton, of consumption. Miss Sarah H. Savage, daughter of Benjamin and Mercy Savage, in the 18th(?) year of her age.

SAYLOR, Jacob       I.R. May 5, 1892
Suicide - Jacob Saylor, of Lawrence Tp., committed suicide last Thursday. Mr. Saylor and his wife had had some trouble, and she had been ordered off the premises and had gone....she swore out a warrant. Mr. Saylor was arrested and plead guilty and paid a fine; very much grieved and humiliated by the arrest, ....He was found a short time after by one of his granddaughters, who lives just below him....Mr. Saylor was about 65 years of age, and lost his first wife some four years ago, and shortly thereafter married another, a widow of about 25 or 30 years of age.

Mrs. Margaret Louisa Shales, wife of Fredrick Shales died at the home of her brother, Stephen Casebolt, corner Tenth and Madison streets Friday, after a lingering illness of spinal trouble. Her home was in Massachusetts.

Aged 75 yrs, died Saturday, supervisor of Notre Dame convent of this city.

Died - one of the Catholic sisters at Pinegrove - May 4th, aged 32.

SKELDING, James       I.R. Aug. 09, 1888
The telegraph last Sunday announced the death of James Skelding, brother-in-law of E. J. Bird, Sr., at Low Moor Furnace, Va., of which he was the manager. At his own request, the body was brought here and buried beside the grave of his sister, Mrs. Bird. The funeral occurred Tuesday, with Masonic honors, both the Lodge and Knight Templars attending. Rev. Moran officiated. Mr. Skelding was 46years old, and leaves a wife and four children, who attended the funeral.

Adopted daughter of John Staub, about 19-20 yrs old, disappeared Friday night. Had been asking about her birth and history without getting satisfactory answers. She was taken to Infirmary when quite young and adopted by Mr. & Mrs. Staub.

Died 13 Dec 1899, entire life spent in Symmes Twp. Married to Mary Elizabeth Handley 21 Jan 1850. Had five children. Member Palestine Baptist church. Was a Civil War Vet, born 21 Nov 1835.

Harley Stewart, who left about 2 weeks ago for Monroe, Mich., has had a sad experience. While on the way there, his little daughter was taken sick with spinal meningitis and died Thursday. Funeral from the home of Mrs. John H. Stewart.

Lived in Ironton in its early days, now runs a dollar store in Chicago. He calls it the City of Paris Dollar Store@ and advertises it extensively. He is said to have made $200,000 out of the enterprise.

Drowned off the Memphis Wharf last Sat. Formerly of Millersport.

THOMAS, Isaac       I.R. Feb. 3, 1919
Died from pneumonia. He died Sunday at his home on N. 4th st.. Mr. Thomas was born Sept. 20, 1850 in the city of Philadelphia, came to Ironton with his parents at an early age. He is survived by his widow and the following children; Mrs. H. F. Allen, wife of Dr. Allen, Henry C. Thomas, Atlanta, Ga., Franklin Thomas, who is now a soldier in France. He is also survived by three sisters, Misses Rachel, Margaret and Mary Jane, all of Fostoria, and brothers Charles of Marion, John of St. Louis and Thomas of Chicago. Interment at Woodland Cem.
