Mrs. Mary Mackin, wife of James Mackin, died Sunday at her home corner Fourth and Walnut streets, aged 54 (?). Hemorrhaging of the lungs was the cause of death. She leaves and husband and four children. One daughter died about two weeks ago.

ab 35y, died 18 Jan 1900 at New Olive Hotel, found dead in his bed. (front page, large story) His parents reside in Austria, near Vienna. Sister, Mrs. George Berg and Mrs. Roer in Cincinnati. Born in Boemia, Burial in Woodland Cemetery

Died 1 Dec 1900 at her home on Walnut St, Ironton from effects of a severe cold and age. Widow of William Marting, Sr. Leaves six children. Funeral at German M.E. Church. Burial in Woodland Cemetery.

Died Dec. 27, 1881 of paralytic stroke. Born England. 61yrs old.

Citizenship granted, a native of Ireland.

MAYS, Davidson       I.R. Feb. 15, 1906
Davidson Mays, one of the oldest residents of this county died at his home in Lawrence township, near Rock Camp Sunday, from the effects of infirmities of old age. Mr. Mays was born in Pike county, Ky., September 1?, 1823 and as a consequence was 83 years old at the time of his death. He came to this county when 20 years of age and was married to Miss Mary Gore on Sept. 5, 1849. Of the union five children were born. Mr. Mays was a soldier of the Civil War, having entered on Oct. 1st, 1861 as a private in Co. B of the First Va. Lt. Art. He was wounded at Nahassas Junction, May 24th, 1862 ... rec'd his discharge Aug. 25, 1862. He held the following township offices: constable, clerk and land appraiser, and justice of the peace... He is survived by a number of grown children. Burial at the family burying ground near Johnstown.

McCALL/CALL, Harrison       I.J. 8 Feb 1871
Accidentally shot himself near Howard Furnace Feb. 3, 1871. Started out hunting and stopping in the yard, he put his foot on the hammer and his mouth over the muzzle of his gun to test by blowing into the barrel whether it was loaded or not. His foot slipped from the hammer and he was instantly killed. Ab. 21-22 yrs. old.

About 20yrs old, committed suicide by taking strychnine.

Died at Burlington, Feb. 25, Bertha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McClure, aged about 2 months.

McCLURE, Ethel, Mrs.       I.R. Oct 11, 1900
Mrs. Ethel McClure, wife of Dustin McClure of Ashland, Ky., died at her home Monday afternoon of typhoid fever, aged 23 years. She leaves a husband and two small children. Mrs. McClure was a daughter of L. A. McKee of Salliday Creek.

McCORMICK, John       I.R. Feb. 2, 1860
Died on Jan. 23, 1860, at the residence of his son, James McCormick, on Redoak creek, Mr. John McCormick, aged 103 years, 6 months and 14 days. He was born in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania, on the 9th day of July, 1756. He emigrated and settled in Adams county, in this State, some fifty years ago, where he resided, until after the death of his wife about twelve years since. From that time, he has lived with his son, in this vicinity. Mr. McCormick served his country, two or three terms, as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. (Ripley Bee.)

McDONALD, Randolph       I.J. 11 Jan 1871
Wandered intoxicated into Belfont Furnace last Monday night and was found yesterday morning near one of the gas conductors, dead. Jury was called and rendered the following verdict: That we, do find the deceased, Randolph McDonald, came to his death by intemperance, exposure and inhaling gas escaping from the ground conductor at Belfont Furnace.

McDONALDSON, J.       I.R. Mar 22, 1860
An explosion occurred in the coal mine of Ross & Co., Saw Mill Run, Pa., a few days ago, by which J. McDonaldson was supposed to be fatally injured, and W. Linton and J. Murray badly hurt. The pit fan had failed to expel all the gas, and entering without the safety lamp, the explosion took place.

Nephew of Joseph & Samuel McGugin, died at the residence of his father, Wm. McGugin Olive Furnace Furnace, last Sunday morning of consumption after a protracted illness.

Died at Olive Furnace Aug 20, 1871. Son of W. M. & C. M. McGugin. Aged 27y 3m 1d.

McGUGIN, Wm. N.       SWI Jun 2, 1908
Mr. Wm. N. McGugin, of Olive Fce., arrived Friday to spend Decoration Day with his nieces, Miss Kate McGugin and Mrs. C. M. Humes and cousin Judge E. V. Dean. Mr. McGugin is now past 90 years of age.

South Point - Miss Eliza McKee of this place died of typhoid fever and was buried at the South Point grave yard.

Died on Friday last, March 28th, in Ironton, Miss Agnes McLardy, aged 14 years and 9 months.

MEARS, John B.       I.R. Jan. 24, 1878
John B. Mears, formerly of Ironton Foundry, died at his home in Cincinnati, last Monday, aged 34 years. The Cin. Commercial says he died of peritonitis, a disease that grew out of a malaria which attacked him in Texas.

Died of consumption on Mar 17, 1880 after a long illness.

Died on Thursday at 285 South 8th St. from infirmities of age. A daughter, Miss Mary Menachor, survives him. Born in Germany

A daughter born to Mr. & Mrs. Martin Moore of Sheridan on Feb 24, 1880.

MORAN, E. E. , Rev.       M. I. Jan. 14, 1925
Rev. E. E. Moran, of Columbus, former pastor of the local Presbyterian church, died at his home at Minneapolis Monday. ... He went to Ironton from Asbury Park in 1887 and was there until 1898, when he left for West Virginia. From 1902 until 1905 he did evangelistic work in Columbus. He was a former member of the faculty at Princeton University. A daughter and two sons survive.

MORGAN, Stephen       I.J. 8 Feb 1871
The proprietor of a valuable farm, that is known as Mulga Creek, near Olive Furnace, committed suicide by shooting himself in the mouth with a revolver last Fri. Morning. He lived only five minutes. Last Aug, Mr. Morgan made an unsuccessful attempt to kill himself by cutting his throat with a razor.

Died on Sunday morning of inflammation of bowels. Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Mountain. 11yrs old.

Died Dec 28, 1880 of neuralgia of the heart. 62y 9m 10d.

Died May 5, Mrs. Mahala Murdock, aged 56.

Died May 4, James Murphy, Jr., 3 years.

Died last week. 67yrs old.

Died Dec 20, 1882. Wife of John. 72yrs old from Petersburg.
