INDIAN BURIAL       I.J. 11 Jan 1871
A few days since, while a grave was being dug at Unionville, this county, a layer of something resembling isinglass, was struck at the depth of about three feet. Underneath which 14 perfect Indian arrows were found. Below the arrows was found another layer of the supposed isinglass, which indicated that an expensive burial had taken place among aborigines.

IRVING, Mr.       I.R. Aug. 17, 1854
A nephew of Washington Irving, a Clerk in the State Department, Washington, died suddenly the other day from having taken an overdose of opium.

IRWIN, John, Priv.       I.R. Apr. 3, 1862
Died in Guyandotte, on Sunday last, March 30th, Private John Irwin, of Capt. S. H. Emmons' Company. His remains were brought to Ironton for burial.

Died, son of Nathan & Hannah. 33 yrs old.

JENKINS, Wilson G.       Dec 29, 1881
Died Dec 27, 1881 of consumption. Born near Morgantown, VA. 54yrs old.

JOHNSON, Atwilda, Mrs.       IDR Nov. 11, 1925
The funeral services for Mrs. Atwilda Johnson, mother of F. M. Johnson, who died Sunday morning, were held yesterday morning at Peach Creek, W. Va.

Died last Friday of consumption. 73yrs old.

JOHNSON, Sherman G.       Feb 19, 1880
Died at his home in Portsmouth Feb. 13, 1880. Formerly of Ironton. 50yrs old.

JOHNSTON, Malvina H. , Mrs.       I.R. Mar 22, 1860
Died on the 3d inst., in Georgetown, Brown Co., Mrs. Malvina H. Johnston, wife of Hon. Sanders W. Johnston, of Kansas, and daughter of the late Gen. Thomas L. Hamer.

Died Oct 21, 1881 of typhoid fever. Lived with his uncle, Mr. Warneke. Buried near Mt. Vernon Furnace.

Died In Ironton, Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, wife of William D. Jones, age ____, of consumption.

A daughter born to Mr. & Mrs. J. D. Jones on May 3, 1881.

JONES, William       Jul 22, 1880
Drowned at Sarah Furnace last Monday.

JORDAN, Unknown       March 4, 1880
