HALLECK, Emma, Mrs.       Ironton Tribune - Monday 6/8/1953
Mrs. Emma Halleck - Sixty six years old of South Point, O., Route 1, died at 11 p.m. Saturday in an Ironton hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Harmony Baptist Church by the Rev. Clifford Suiter. Burial will follow in Tabor Cemetery. Surviving are four sons, Hoadley, Franklin, and Clay Halleck of South Point and Clyde Halleck of Athens, O.; a daughter, Mrs. Edna May Adkins of Chesapeake; a brother, Grover Jones of Proctorville, and five grandchildren and one great grandchild. The body will be taken to the residence from Schneider Funeral Home at Chesapeake at 1 p.m. today.

HAND, William T. , Rev.       I.R. May 16, 1861
Died - In Ironton, Rev. William T. Hand, in his 61st year. He was a native of Leicester, England, was well educated. In 1838 he and his wife and then only child (now Mrs. Ralph Leete, of Ironton,) immigrated to Cincinnati and he became a member of the Ohio Conference, M. E. Church.

Died last Sat in Ironton. Buried Sacred Heart Cemetery.

HARKINS, Chas. L.       IWREP. Jun. 12, 1897
Married - Mr. Charles L. Harkins of Pennville, Morgan County, Ohio, and Miss Edith L. Payne, a worthy lady of Suiter, this county, were married by Rev. T. W. Creighton at the Clutts House late Wednesday afternoon. They will spend a few days at the home of the bride's parents, then go to Pennville, their future home.

HARRISON, Martha, Mrs.       I.R. Jan. 18, 1906
Mrs. Martha Harrison died at her home at Vesuvius Station Friday...long illness of lung trouble and infirmities of old age. She was 70 years 1 month and 0 days old at the time of her death. Burial at Neal cemetery on John's Creek.

Hanging Rock Division, No. 162, S. of T. - Whereas in the Providence of God, we have been called upon to mourn the sudden and violent death of our highly esteemed brother, Henry Hays... Resolved that the action of this Division be published in the papers of Ironton, and a copy forwarded to the friends of the deceased. Committee: G. S. B. Hempstead, Samuel Coles, H. Clark, R. H. Yingling.

Died May 6, Thos. Jefferson Hebering, aged 8 months.

HEIDORN, Frederick       I.R. Apr 25, 1901
Frederick Heidorn, an aged citizen, died at his home 91 Center St.. The dec'd was 72 years of age. He was born in Germany, Dec. 28, 1828, and came to this country at the age of 15, locating in Indiana. He was married to Anna Wietlach at Buckhorn Fce., Feb. 18, 1855. For 13 years prior to coming to Ironton, he was a blacksmith at Mt. Vernon Fce. Six children survive the dec'd: Misses Laura, Dora, and Kate Heidorn of this city, William P. of Mt. Vernon Fce., and Harry and Willard of Pullman, Ill.

In riding from Sciotoville on last Sat, had the misfortune to break his carriage. He and a young lady friend who was with him, walked to Mr. Boynton.

Died Jul 29, 1881. Wife of Thomas. Heart disease. 68yrs old.

HILBURN, James       Jul 14, 1881
Crushed to death in an ore bank near the Adams Place on Mon, Jul 11, 1881. Leaves a family.

Died of cancer of tongue, by smoking.

HILTON, Hiram       I.R. Feb. 23, 1899
Hiram Hilton died at his home, near Lagrange last Sunday morning, at the age of 65 years. Died from intoxication and other causes. "Old Hiram" as he was known, was a familiar character in Ironton. ... He was once a soldier, and it was thought his physical and mental debility resulted from the contingencies of battle (Civil War). Owing to the fact that he deserted from one regiment and joined another, his award of a pension was belated; but about a year ago, he was granted $12 a month and $1100 arrears. This has been mostly consumed by claims of support, legal fees, & till now there is only about $450 in the hands of his guardian.

HOLDERBY, William       I.R. Jan. 12, 1871
Died at his residence in Windsor Township, Jan. 1st, 1871, leaving his aged companion and several sons and daughters, to mourn. He was born in Cabell county, WV, Jan. 22, 1786. Emigrated to this county in the year 1816, and settled in the Symmes Creek Valley near the mouth of Venison Ham.

Died Jun 15, 1882, by suicide of morphine. Living in Russell, KY and a blacksmith.

Died from injuries from blow from Edward Mace Jan 7, 1883.

HOLMES, James H.       I.R. Mar 31, 1892
James H. Holmes, an old soldier and river captain, and ex-game warden of this county, died at his home on Vernon street, between 2nd and Front streets, last Friday. Capt. Holmes has been a resident of this city for nearly 30 years. He served in one of the West Virginia regiments during the war and was a member of Dick Lambert Post. Buried in Woodland.

Died May 6, 1880 at son-in-law's residence in Jackson Co, OH. Age 76yrs, buried at Pleasant Grove.

Died May 3, 1882 at her residence.

HOPKINS, David Nixon       I.R. Jan. 1, 1891
Died - Last Sunday, David Nixon Hopkins, at the residence of his father, R. L. Hopkins in East Ironton. He was born in Burlington, and was 37 years old. He was married, having a wife and three children, who are with Mrs. Hopkins' parents at Portland, Maine.

Died at Albuquerque, NM Jul 24, 1881. Daughter of Wilinot & Louisa Hopkins, 2yrs old.

HORN, Henry Frederick       I.R. Apr 25, 1901
Henry Frederick Horn died at his home, 199 Lawrence St., Wednesday after a 3 month's illness. Death was due to lung trouble and paralysis. The deceased was 43 years of age, having been born in Ironton May 3, 1857... He was formerly engaged in the meat business. Mr. Horn was married to Miss Minnie Jacobs, May 25, 1884. The latter and four children survive him. The children are: Albert, Henry, Florence, and Lillian all minors. His father, one brother and four sisters are also left to mourn his death.

HORSCHEL, Edward       I.R. May 16, 1901
Edward Horschel, one of Ironton's oldest and most respected German citizens, died at his home on North Second street Monday, after long illness. The dec'd was born in Germany April 25, 1838, and came to Ironton in the fifties, and was for many years associated with Mr. F. Cronacher in the meat business... Funeral arrangements not decided.

Died Nov 11, 1882 at Erie, PA. Wife of Mr. Horton, who runs the guide mill rolls of the Iron & Steel Mill.

The funeral of William Henry Horton, who passed away at his home on South Second and Quincy streets, Sunday... interment in Woodland.

HOSSLER, Nancy, Mrs.       I.R. Jan. 1, 1891
Haverhill - The death of Mrs. Nancy Hossler occurred on Dec. 26th near Sciotoville, at the home of her daughter. The deceased was a sister of J. A. and G. C. Winkler, who with their wives attended the funeral at Wheelersburg. For more than three scores and ten had she trod the journey of life.

Was shot by Guy Fry in Guyan Twp during the night, thought to be a robber. Was insane for 40yrs.

HUMMEL, Rosa, Mrs.       I.R. Aug. 09, 1888
Mrs. Rosa Hummel, wife of John Hummel, died suddenly at her home in West Ironton, last Saturday night. Three sons of the deceased arrived from Cincinnati while the services were in progress at the German Reform Church.

HUNTER, Fred       I.R. Feb. 15, 1906
Fred Hunter, a former resident of this city, died at his home in Fresno, Cal., aged about 60 years. For many years was foreman of Kelley Nail and Iron Co's. mill.. He is survived by three brothers, H. S. of Coryville, John A., his twin brother of this city, and Theodore, who resides in Pennsylvania. He leaves besides his wife, the following children: Irwin, Edna, Lula, and Willie, who reside at Fresno and one dead, Clarence, whose remains rest in Woodland.

HURD, Mary, Mrs.       I.R. Sep. 22, 1852
Died at Portsmouth, on the 19th inst., Mrs. Mary Hurd, relict of the late John Hurd, near Franklin Furnace, and sister of Rev. Dan Young, of this place, aged 62.

A daughter born to Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hurdman on May 15, 1881.

Died above Burlington. Wife of John Hussy, daughter of Archibald & Ann Edwards. Born Jun 4, 1807. Married in Clinton Co, was a Quaker. Buried in Burlington Cemetery.

HUTCHINSON, Unknown       I.R. April 22, 1880
