Death of Judge Simeon Nash of Gallipolis died on Jan. 18th in his 75th
year. Born in Mass. arriving in Gallipolis Jan. 09, 1832. Admitted to
the bar in 1833. State Senator leaves wife and 5 children, 2 daughters
and 3 sons. Autopsy was held - cause of death from the enlargement of
the spleen.

Grant Neal was called home last Saturday…to attend his mother's
funeral, who died March 16th . .. Mrs. N. was formerly a resident of
this county, but moved with her family about four years ago to
northern part of this state, Fayette county. She was a daughter of
Squire Walters…. Mr. N. also lost a son, Feb'y 12th.
NEAL, MRS. ALICE G. (LANGDON)

She was born Jan. 17, 18__? and died July 21, 1892. She united in
marriage on Aug. 13, 1875 to T. J. Neal. Two sons, William and
Leonard, aged respectively sixteen and fourteen years (were born to
them). She had been afflicted for years. Burial at Unionville
cemetery.
NEAL, ELLIOTT I.R. AUG. 25,

Was born Feb. 25, 1826, in the Kanawha Valley, W.Va., and died July
20, 1892, at his home on Leatherwood creek, Larence county, Ohio. He
was married Dec. 14, 1851 to Mary Brammer. Six sons and four daughters
came to enliven their early home, five of whom, three of the former
and two of the latter preceded him to the grave. Burial at U. B.
cemetery near Unionville.

Died at home at Etna Monday morning from stomach trouble. Mr. Neal was
a brother of Wm. Neal of Pedro and a brother-in-law of County
Commissioner David Halley. He was a miner by trade. Lived there over
twenty years. Interment: Wellston.

Theodore J. Neekamp - This well known citizen died last Friday
morning, had been frail from rheumatism for years, but it was typhoid
fever that carried him off. He was born in Germany in 1850, and came
to Ironton about 1876, since which time he has been in the shoe
business. He leaves a wife and two sons and two daughters to mourn
him.

best school teachers…They will commence housekeeping at Getaway where

Mrs. Newcomb, the mother of H. D. Newcomb, died at her home in
Madison, last Saturday. Mr. Newcomb went there several days ago, and
Mrs. Newcomb followed a few days later. They have not returned yet.

(need beginning of obit) - About the year 1879 Mr. Newcomb gave up the
furnace business and has since been engaged in the general hardware
business on North 2nd St. this city. In 1873 he was married to Miss
Sarah Witman of this city. No children ever blessed this union.

Wife of Mr. Godfred Newman, died at the home of their son, Wm. Newman
on north 5th street Saturday, from dropsy. She was 73 years old and
she and her husband have resided with their son for the last six
months. They have been residents of this city for ten years, come here
from Pine Grove. Besides her husband, six children survive: William,
Fred, and Mrs. Charles Shepherd, of this city, Mrs. Adam Barn_, of
Pine creek, Mrs. John Kahle, of Rockford, Neb., and Herman Newman of
Jackson.

loaded. . . she was killed instantly.

formerly a resident of Ironton. He died of blood poisening last week.

A pupil of the High School and son of Martin Nolte died last Thursday,
at the age of 16, of consumption.

Home at 4th and Monroe streets today. One of Ironton's builders. He
was 89 years old, born in Louisa, Ky., he came to Ironton at the age
of 12 years and he had since resided here. He was united in marriage
here to Miss Madge Summers who passed away 7 years ago. He was the
last member of his immediate family, his parents and brothers and
sisters having also preceded him in death, as did four children.
Surviving are one son, Luther of Ironton, two daughters, Mrs. Madge
Petee of Portsouth and Mrs. Pearl Clark of Cleveland, four
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial in Woodland.

Connected with the iron interests in Ironton and Ashland, Ky., and in
the Hocking Valley, Steubenville, Birmingham, Ala., Cairo, Ill., and
other places. He was one of the principal promoters of the Bird Iron
Co.'s furnace at Culbertson, Ohio, for which he served as secretary
and treasurer. He was the son of Geo. Norton and was born at
Brownsville, Pa., something over 64 years ago. He came to this county
with his father while yet a very young man and for a time served as a
clerk in the old Iron Bank . . . Also engaged in steamboat business
between Marietta and Parkersburg. . . . Survived by loving wife and
one son, Hugh, who is cashier in the D. T. & office in this city, and
one daughter, Miss Caroline at home. Also survived by several
brothers, who are located in the west.
