Last Saturday, Mr. Edward R. Dale, of Marietta, the husband of Mrs. C. C. Clarke's sister, died suddenly on a railroad train that had left Boston that morning, bound north. Mr. Dale was traveling with his wife and three children. . . died of heart disease. Funeral at Marietta.

DAMRON, MRS. ELIZABETH (BRUCE)----- IDR. MAY 20, 1919
She was born March 4, 1858 at the old Bruce Homestead at Deering, Ohio. The land of her grandfather, William Bruce in 1815 settled there. Her father, Amazah Bruce died when she was a small child. Her mother was Julia Paul Bruce kept the homeplace and reared her seven children, all of whom have passed on but three brothers, Wellington Bruce of Linneus, Mo., Amazah Bruce of Hanging Rock, O., and V. V. Bruce of Deering, O. She married J. S. Damron on Oct. 25, 1881 at the home by her cousin Rev. Jack Bruce. They had four children, the first, Amazah died in infancy; Mrs. C. E. Dickes, now of South Point, O., Miss Mellie of Huntington, W. Va., and Miss Nancy at home. They had two more children, Mrs. Bert Keenan and Miss Dorothy at home. She died April 23, 1919.

Died on the 12th inst., at Marietta, Mr. Stephen Daniels, the well known bridge builder, aged about 55 years. Mr. Daniels had been a citizen of Ironton from the foundation of the town.

A former resident of Ironton, and iron worker at the mills here, died Wednesday at St. Louis, Mo., where he had resided for several years. He leaves a wife and several grown children. He was an uncle of the Cloran brothers and of F. L. McCauley of this city, and the latter, and Jos. Cloran leave tomorrow for St. Louis to attend the funeral.

Died - At Burlington, March 11th, Mrs. Davidson, mother of Jerre Davidson, of Ironton.

DAVIDSON, MRS. ----- I.R. OCT. 28, 1909
J. J. Davidson received word Saturday from St. Paul, Minn., that Mrs. Davidson, widow of the famous millionaire steamboat captain and owner, "Fuse" Davidson, was dead says the Portsmouth Times. There are no particulars. J. J. Davidson is a brother of Commodore Davidson, who died many years ago. He was worth four million dollars at his death, and the estate still runs into the millions. Mrs. P. M. Walfe, of this city, is a relative. Commodore "Fuse" Davidson and the late Wash Honsehll started steamboating together as deckhands on a small boat called the "Resist," plying between Portsmouth and Catlettsburg. Both died millionaires. Honshell became head of the Big Sandy Packet Company and controlled the Davidson line of packets on the upper Mississippi. The Davidsons lived at South Point, Lawrence county, and some of them still live there. Wash Honshell lived in Catlettsburg just across the river.

DAVIDSON, MRS. AMELIA ----- IET AUG. 25, 1926
Funeral services for Mrs. Amelia Davidson, 78, who died at her home in Burlington Tuesday...Mrs. Davidson was born in Morgan county, Ohio, a daughter of the late Robert and Sarah Vincent. She moved to Lawrence county with her parents and had resided in Burlington practically all her life. She was a former school teacher. She was married to Dustin Davidson in the year 1871. He died during 1925. One daughter also preceded her in death. Four children survive: Mrs. Homer Dodson of Catlettsburg, Ky.; Estelle at home; Mrs. George H. Campbell of Cleveland and Clyde H. Davidson of Portsmouth. Two sisters, Mrs. Kate V. Henry of Ironton and Mrs. C. A. Mace of Fort Thomas, Ky., are also bereaved.

Clinton F. Davidson, resident of South Point, died at the Marting hospital Saturday. Mr. Davidson was a son of the late Jonathan and Cyntha Davidson and was born and reared at South Point. He resided at Catlettsburg, Ky., for some time but the greater part of his life was spent in Ohio. His wife, Malissa A. Davidson, died on February 21, 1930. He is survived by one son, Howard G., of Atlanta, Ga., four nieces, Catherine Ferguson, and Nancy Adams, both of South Point, Anna and Catherine Davidson of Atlanta, Ga. Surviving brothers and sisters are Frank E. Davidson of Marchland, Canada; Victor A., of Hanging Rock; Samuel T. Of Barboursville, Ky.; Watson P., of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Elizabeth Harbaugh of South Point. Interment in Woodland.

Mrs. Cyntha Davidson, one of the pioneer residents of the upper part of this county, died at home at Delta, Friday, aged 67 years. The deceased was the mother-in-law of Mr. Hugh Russell, of this city. She is survived by the following named children: Mrs. Elizabeth Harbaugh, of Piqua, Ohio, Frank and Victor Davidson, of Morgan, Minn., Clinton and Watt Davidson, of St. Paul, Minn., Samuel Davidson, of Baumont, Tex., and Miss Jeanette Davidson who lives the home place at Delta. Mrs. Davidson was the widow of the late Jeremiah Davidson. Mrs. Davidson was a sister of the late General Sam Thomas, the multi-millionaire railroad magnate of New York, who was formerly a resident of the Delta neighborhood. Both were born in the vicinity of South Point...

David H. Davidson, South Point farmer, died at his home this morning after an illness of two weeks. He was born on April 3, 1858, death coming at the age of 75 years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Davidson, who preceded him in death. Surviving are his widow, Ellen Davidson, three sons and one daughter; Wilfee (?) and Arch of South Point, William of Cleveland and Mrs. Hattie Waldon of South Point. Burial in White Cottage cemetery.

DAVIDSON, EMMANUEL G. ----- IDR APR. 05, 1912
Of South Point. Mr. Davidson is the father of Mrs. Howard Lawrence of Huntington. He is survived by his wife and one daughter and four sons. The deceased had reached the advanced age of 79 years and 7 months. He was born and raised at South Point, having been a son of the late Joseph Davidson, one of the pioneer citizens of Southern Ohio. Died last Tuesday, Howard T. Davidson, died at his home on Adams Street, at the age of 21 years. He was the son of James T. and Mrs. Maggie A. Davidson and was born in Burlington, died of consumption. Burial at Burlington.

REUNION - Today, Wednesday, the family of I. W. Davidson, of South Point, are gathered at the paternal home for a reunion, the occasion being the 30th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Davidson's wedding. All the twelve children of the family are at home, W. J. Davidson and wife coming from Goshen, Va., E. T. Davidson from St. Cloud, Minn., and E. M. Davidson from St. Paul, to be present for the happy event. A feature of the festivities today will be a baseball contest between a club made up of I. W. Davidson and his nine sons, and the regular South Point nine.

Mr. James Davidson, the oldest person in our community, died at the home of his son, M. D. Davidson, Friday, December 28th. Mr. Davidson who was about ninety-four years of age has led a very useful and prosperous life. Several children survive him.

A PIONEER GONE - Last Friday, James Davidson, father of Jere Davidson, died at his home in Burlington. He was born in Pennsylvania, March 4th, 1801, and so was 93y 9m 24d old. Old age ended his days. Came to this county when a child. Died Dec. 27th, 1894, was the grandson of William Davidson, who was born in 1747 and came to South Point in 1799, settling first for a short time at what is now Catlettsburg. He died in 1811 and was buried at South Point. He came there with his second wife, Barbara, by keelboat, from Red Stone, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. The father of James Davidson, John Davidson, was by Wm. Davidson's first wife, Rosanna Hutchison, and came to what is now Lawrence Co., O., in the Summer of 1801, from Red Stone, Fayette Co., Pa. James was then three months old. John Davidson died at Burlington in 1828. His wife, Margaret Armstrong, also died at Burlington, in 1822. John and Margaret settled with their family in 1801 on the land owned by James Davidson at his death and where he resided from June 1801 till day of his death. James Davidson was the last of his family, there having been Sarah, who married Thos. Kerr; William, who married Hannah Pancake; James who married Mary Frances Combs; John who married Ruth Bryson; Marh, who married _____ Shyrhock; Joseph who married Maria Thomas; Jeremiah, who married Eliza Corum. He, James Davidson, was a member of the M. E. Church when he married, Jan. 25, 1829.

Married 50 Years - Major Jere Davidson and Mrs. Clara Crawford Thomas were married fifty years ago this morning at the home of Mrs. Combs on 4th street, the house is still standing and is known as the Snyder home and stands just across the street from the court house.. . . The bride's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Crawford, Miss Withrow and Mrs. Combs were the only attendants. The bride's sister, Miss Tillie Crawford was then ill with yellow fever in New Orleans at the home of relatives. After the marriage the young couple went to housekeeping below Railroad on 4th. Mr. Davidson served in the Civil War . . . he has been treasurer of this county two different times and was the first postmaster in the new post office. Covers were placed for Major and Mrs. Davidson, their youngest son, James and their grandson Crawford Davidson of New Orleans, La., Mrs. Norton and Miss Caroline. Mr. and Mrs. Davidson are the parents of four children, the eldest son, Edward Thomas (by her first marriage - smk), of Shreveport, La., who has a wife and son and daughter; Fred Davidson, deceased, living wife and son; Hugh Davidson of New Orleans, who has a wife and three sons, and James Davidson, unmarried. Her brother S. R. Crawford was living in Graham, Texas. Major Davidson's sister, Mrs. Sue Fry of Alhamra, Calif. (Also - same date) James Davidson and nephew Crawford Davidson, youngest son of Hugh Davidson both of New Orleans arrived Monday to attend the Golden Wedding anniversary of the formers parents, Major and Mrs. Jere Davidson.

Wife of James Davidson, was born at Romney, Virginia, November 15th, 1807, and died at Burlington, Lawrence county, O., March 11, 1888. She was married to James Davidson, January 25, 1829. . . . lived on the same farm in which her husband has now spent 87 years; his father, John Davidson, having come from Greene Co., Pa., in 1801, when James was but three months old. Six of her nine children remain to treasure her deeds in their memory. The five sons were educated at Delaware, O., the daughter at Oxford, O., and at Syracuse, NY Besides these children of her own, she brought up many others, perhaps twenty in all, whom she taught and trained in books, in work, and in virtue. Three of her children, Col. James H., John X., and McClain live in St. Paul, Minn., Major Jere, ex-Treasurer of Lawrence co., in Ironton, O., Mighill Dustin, at Burlington, O., and the daughter, Mrs. Sue M. D. Fry, has for 13 years held a professorship in the Ill. Wesleyan University at Bloomington, Ill.

Death claimed Mrs. Mary J. Davidson, widow of Hamilton Davidson, Sunday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Myrta Sutton of 716 So. 2nd St. Mrs. Davidson was born in Lawrence Co., a daughter of Saul H. and Mary A. Wood and she would have been 87 years old on next July 29. She was one of the first teachers at the Lawrence street school. She was united in marriage to Hamilton Davidson on December 24, 1870 and three children were born to their union, the son dying in infancy. Surviving daughters are Mrs. Sutton of Ironton and Mrs. E. C. Trumbo, of Union Landing. Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Skellinger of Ironton and Mrs. Ella Broderman of Fresno, Calif., one brother, Saul M. Wood of Columbus and one granddaughter, Mrs. Wray McCoy. Burial in Woodland.

Mrs. Mary T. Davidson, aged resident of South Point, died Thursday, with infirmities attendant upon advanced age. She was the widow of Thomas L. Davidson, Civil War veteran, and leaves no close relatives. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.

Mrs. Malissa Davidson, wife of Clinton Davidson of South Point died at her home in South Point this morning. Death caused by sudden stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. Davidson is survived by her husband, one son, Howard of Atlanta, Ga., and two granddaughters, Mrs. Arthur Ferguson of Ironton and Miss Nancy Adams at home in South Point.

Died on the 5th inst., at South Point, of consumption, Mrs. Nancy, wife of Rev. W. W. Davidson, aged about 50 years - dying in full faith of the blessed Redeemer.

Miss Nita V. Davidson, age 51 years, died at the Deaconess Hospital this morning. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Davidson and her father was a former riverman, with boats on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. Miss Davidson resided for years with her step-mother, "Aunt Mary Davidson" of South Point and she was highly esteemed. No other close relatives survive. Interment in Woodland Cemetery.

Mrs. Permelia Davidson, 84, died Sunday at her home in La Grange, following 60 years residence there. She was born in 1853 at Gallipolis. Mrs. Davidson leaves four sons and three daughters, George, Samuel, Frank and William Davidson, all of Ironton; Mrs. Nettie Pemberton of Ashland, Mrs. Mary Hoptry of Ironton. Two daughters preceded her in death a few years ago. Her husband, William R. S. Davidson, a Civil War Veteran preceded her in death 33 years ago. Burial will be in the La Grange cemetery.

Mrs. Rebecca Davidson, beloved wife of Frank Davidson of 104 Scott avenue, died at her home Monday. She was a daughter of Louis and Omenda Baker of Gallia county, near Waterloo, and was united in marriage to Frank Davidson forty years ago last August. The husband and following children survive: Mrs. Orville Lambert, Bert and Curtis Davidson, Pearl, teacher at Pedro High, Cloe and Maridel, teachers at Ironton High and Carlton Davidson of Ironton. Two brothers and five sisters are also bereaved; Mrs. Etta Baker of Railroad street, Mrs. Amanda Keiser and Nola Kelley of Pedro, and Mrs. Nina O'Banion of Carlyle, Pa., Mrs. Alice Lawless and Joseph and Edward Baker of Ironton. Grandchildren include Glendon Davidson of Ironton High, Pearl and Bill Davidson of Pedro High, Beulah and Frank Davidson and Dicky Lambert of Ironton.

Funeral services for Aunt Sue Davidson, who died Sunday, with burial in Burlington cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home awaiting arrival of three nieces, Mrs. Dwight Gross, Mrs. Ross Morrison and Miss Hazel Davidson of Denver, Colorado.

DAVIDSON, DR. T. F. ----- I.R. MAR. 30, 1905
Dr. T. F. Davidson died at his home in Columbus Wednesday. Dr. Davidson was well known in Portsmouth, where he lived for many years previous to moving to Columbus. He was born in Greenup county, Ky., September 4, 1845. . . He was married to Anne E. Ware/Ward?, and she with the following children survive: Samuel, of Columbus, William H., Mrs. Carrie Krick, all of Portsmouth, Asbury, Theodore, Reed and Herbert. The doctor lived a short time at Quincy, Ky., and in the winter of 1869 too another course of lectures. Portsmouth Times. Prof. Davidson, of this city (Ironton), is a son of the deceased and Miss Davidson of the Russell Schools, is a sister.

Mrs. Thayer Davidson of Hamilton Tp., died of the grippe, and was buried last Monday.

Thos. L. Davidson has received a divorce from his wife. She is an actress given to song and dance specialties, and consequently does not yearn for home, as a reasonable man might wish his wife should; therefore the divorce. Mrs. Davidson's stage name is Ella Francis, and she is on the boards in the West somewhere. She wrote J. J. to wire at her expense the result of the suit, which he did.

U. M. Davidson, 83, resident of South Point died Friday, suffering a stroke. Umphrey M. Davidson was born and reared in South Point. . . was bookkeeper and accountant on the upper Mississippi where he was affiliated with a steamboat line. . . For some time he was active in the manufacture of flour being one of the members of the Davidson-Andrews Milling Co. Early in life he met Miss Emma Spalding of St. Louis and were united in marriage. Five children were born to their union, three of whom are still living. They are Paul Davidson of the Marting Company of Portsmouth, O., Rex Davidson, affiliated with the Chesapeake and Ohio Ry., at Huntington, W. Va., and Mrs. Green Ross of Catlettsburg, Ky. There are six grandchildren. The elder Mr. Davidson, father of the deceased was one of the original settlers of South Point. Burial in Woodland Cemetery.

DAVIDSON, COMMODORE W. F.----- I.R. JUN. 02, 1887
Died at his home in St. Paul, last Thursday. Heart disease, resulting in paralysis . . . in the evening, he dictated his will to Col. J. H. Davidson, but the contents are not known. His estate is valued at from three to five million. He was born at South Point, Feb. 4, 1825, and was over 62 years of age. At an early age, perhaps 20 years he went on the river, where his life has been spent. In the Spring of 1855, he left for the Mississippi river when he located at St. Paul, where most of his wealth is invested. Shortly after located at St. Paul, he returned to this county and married Miss Johnson, daughter of Benjamin Johnson. He was a member of the Presbyterian church of which his wife and son were members. He had two children living. His brother Capt. P. S. Davidson, Capt. Barton and Capt. Wm. Bay, all married sisters of Mrs. W. F. Davidson. His father was Rev. Wm. Davidson, who died two or three years ago. Jerry Davidson of South Point was a half brother of the Commodore. The Davidsons of Burlington are distantly related.

The home of Prof. W.H. Davidson was darkened last Tuesday by the shadow of death. Mrs. Davidson, who two weeks ago, gave birth to her first born, passed to the great beyond. Ella Elliot, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Elliot, was born in Ironton 34 years ago last November. Ten years ago in April she was married to W. H. Davidson. The blow falls with crushing weight upon Mr. Davidson, who with his infant daughter, have the sympathy of a host of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Elliot, whose home is in Peebles, were with their daughter at the time of her death. One week ago Saturday, Mr. Elliot's mother, an aged woman, who was visiting at the home of Prof. Davidson, passed away.

Fatal Accident - Last Monday, John W. Davis, one of the engineers at the Ironton Rolling Mill, was killed, while engaged in the duties of his position. His brother, Edward, with whom he was associated in running the engines, had just told him to go to dinner, but he thought first to oil the doctor, and while engaged in that task, slipped back against the pitman, then in full play. . . John Davis was an excellent young man, he was about 28 years old and has lived in Ironton for 18 years.

Hayes and Miss Mary Davis, died at her home in Ironton last Saturday at the age of 74 years. She died of lung trouble resulting from grippe. She was born in Cardiganshire, Wales, March, 1821. In 1839, she moved to this country settling in Pittsburg, where soon after she was married; and moved to Ironton in 1856. Since then she has resided here. Her husband died about two years ago, but all her children are living here in Ironton.

Richard Davis, an Ironton boy in the early days of the town, and everybody knew as Dick Davis, was killed at Pittsburg recently. He was at an ice cream saloon, where two men were fighting, and he interposed to quiet them and was pushed aside violently and fell, suffering fatal injuries. Dick's father was manager of the "old mill."

Died at Glenwood, Penn., on Sunday, the 3rd of peritonitis. His parents moved from Ironton before the war. The deceased became a prominent business man at Pittsburg and in 1867 was appointed Collector of Internal Revenue by President Grant. A sister of Mr. Davis married a brother of S. B. Steece, and she is now the only member of the family living.

Died in Ironton, March 26th, of consumption, Isaac Davisson, in his 61st year. Mr. Davisson was born in Harrison county, Virginia, August 8, 1796. When about 5 years of age his father, John Davisson, who afterwards became the first Associate Judge in this county, removed to Greenup Co., Ky., opposite Hanging Rock; resided there one year, and removed to the farm now in the possession of Andrew Davisson near the lower line of the county, and 5 years afterwards, when the subject of this notice was about 12 years of age, in 1808, we believe, he removed to one of the farms on which Ironton is now located; and here Isaac Davisson lived until his death last week. He united with the Baptist church in this place in Jan. 1832, and was a deacon in the church about 21 years . . .

Charles T. Dean, 71 year old resident of south 9th street above Vine passed away in General hospital today . . brief illness with heart disease. Mr. Dean was of a family numbered among the pioneer settlers and builders of this entire district. He was born here during June, 1867, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Dean and was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Browne on August 17, 1892. Shortly afterwards he became connected with the U.S. Navy Yards at Portsmouth, Virginia and he served there 35 years. Charles Dean is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. P. W. Lewis of Ft. Monroe, Va., two sisters, Mrs. S. G. Gilfillan and Miss Ruth Dean, and other relatives. The daughter was here with her husband Major P. W. Lewis.

Mrs. Bertha Browne Dean, widow of Charles T. Dean, died this morning. She was a daughter of the late Captain Harry and Isabelle Browne and was born and reared here. Following her marriage to Mr. Dean they resided 35 years at Portsmouth, Va., where he was connected with the U.S. Army. Her husband died in 1939. Surviving her is one daughter, Mrs. Parry Lewis of Wilmington, NC, and these sisters and brothers: Mrs. Edna Mountain of Ironton, Mrs. Arthur Irish of Elyria, Mrs. M. E. Duduit of Portsmouth, George K. Browne of Charlotte, NC. Burial at Woodland cemetery.

Mrs. Emma Dean, widow of Enoch A. Dean, formerly of Coal Grove, died last night in Toledo. Mrs. Dean was a daughter of the late James and Mary Wood Allen. Her husband Enoch Dean, formerly of the Yellow Popular Lumber Company, Coal Grove, the W. E. Deegans Coal Company, Huntington and the Dean Heating Company, Toledo, died in Toledo, Sept. 26, 1938. She was a sister of the late Ed, Ben and Watt Allen of Ironton. Surviving her are three children: Mrs. James H. Ward of Huntington, Allen Dean of Toledo, Madison Dean of the U. S. Army, and one granddaughter, Helen Ward. Burial at Woodland.

Mrs. Ezra Van Mess Dean, 90 years of age, died at her home on south 4th street Saturday. The deceased was the widow of the late Judge E. V. Dean and was born at York, Pa., in 1833, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Weaver. In early girlhood she moved to Wooster and in 1851 was married to Ezra Van Mess Dean to which union eight children were born. Mr. Dean died several years ago and the following children survive, Mrs. J. M. Hill of this city, Mrs. G. O. Cress of St. Louis, General James T. Dean of Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., and Ezra Dean of this city. The following grandchildren survive: Mrs. W. P. Lewis, Mrs. Thomas B. Hobson of Columbus, Mrs. Moelchert and Captain Parry Lewis of Washington, D. C. Burial in Woodland.

Judge Dean, father of E. V. Dean of this city, died last Friday, and was buried at Woodland. He was 77 years old. He was for a long time, Common Pleas Judge, in the Wooster district, and also, a member of Congress. For some time past, he had been making his home with his son in this place.

Civil War Veteran Died Saturday - John T. Dean, 96, of 2435 south ___ street, died Saturday. While he was not born here he was quite widely known, having lived the last ten years or more in Ironton. He was born in Pike county, Ky., August 26, 1831, ___ in life he removed to Lawrence county, Ky., and there was united in marriage. To this union were born eight children as follows: Mrs. Martha Arden, Franklin Furnace; H. S. Dean, Huntington, W. Va.; William Dean, R. F. Number 2, Ironton; Thomas Dean, South Point; Jerome C. Dean, Parkersburg, W. Va.; Mrs. Ethel Mussetter, Ashland, Ky., Mrs. W. E. Quillin, Ashland, Ky.; and Kinner Dean, Ironton. About 10 years ago, Mr. Dean came to this county. Six years ago he suffered the loss of his wife, Mary Jane Dean. He made his home with his son, Kenner Dean on south Fifth street. He served in the Civil War in Company C, 14th Kentucky. Burial at Lebanon cemetery.

Mrs. L. T. Dean died at her home on 2nd street last Thursday. Her maiden name was Keturah Williamson. She was born at Allegheny City, August 30, 1838; and when a girl moved to Wheeling. There on December 24, 1857, she was married to Mr. L. T. Dean. Seven children came to them, and three went before. The husband died in October, 1894. The family moved to Ironton in December 1863. Burial at Woodland.

Died Ironton, last Saturday with symptoms of paralysis. He was born in Taunton, Mass., Sept. 06, 1820 and was 74 years old. Came to Ironton in 1863 in association with the Norton Brothers, bought the Star Mill and changed its name to Belfont, and became the Vice President of the company and manager of the mill. He lived in Ironton 31 years. He leaves to mourn for him, a devoted wife and four loving children: Mrs. Lot Davis, Mrs. S. G. Gilfillan, Miss Ruth Dean and Mr. Charles Dean, four children had gone before. Interment at Woodland.

Died at his home in Perry Twp. Funeral attended by several hundred people. He was 76 years nearly. He was born in Wayne county, West Va., Dec. 27, 1814. His parents came from North Carolina. When quite young James moved to Greenup county, where he was engaged in furnace business, being among the first to work the old fashioned forge, to smelt the ore of this region. In 1836, he married Lydia Owen, in this county, and about that time took up his residence in Perry township where he has lived since. When gold was discovered in California, he joined the "Forty-niners" and mined gold in that state. He returned after a few years with some comfortable savings and settled down on the farm where he died. His wife survives him. Four years ago, last February, we attended their golden wedding. There were born to them seven children, all grown, and happily and honorably located in life. He was infirmary Director of this county, and for many years Postmaster of Forest Dale and Deering's.

Mrs. Richard Deering, who a few days ago had one of her legs amputated . . . developed blood poisoning . . . died Saturday at her home in Deering. The deceased was 59 years of age and leaves besides her husband five children, Mrs. Clara Kimble, of Chicago, Mrs. Nellie Grosser of Dayton, Miss Lyda, of Cincinnati, William and Mrs. Stella Marmaduke at home. Clayton Steed, of Forest Dale, is a brother of the deceased.

We understand that preparations were making for changing the furnace from cold blast to hot blast and that the men were engaged in raising the poles of shears on top of the bank, near the stack . . . William H. Dillon was born May 3, 1840 and died May 19, 1905. He was married to Lucinda Powell in 1860. To this union eight children were born, who with their mother are left to mourn. The children are John H. of Midkiff, W.Va., Geo. W. of Hart, W. Va., Charles W., of Willow Wood, William M. of Rock Camp, Mrs. James Gore, of Kitts Hill, Mrs. Daisy Pemberton, of Andis, Mrs. C. E. Boyd, of Tacoma, Wash., and Miss Flora of Willow Wood. Mr. Dillon was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Company E . . .(unreadable) . . Cincinnati, O., July 29 - Mrs. Mary C. Dinsmore, wife of Frank F. Dinsmore, prominent Cincinnati attorney and dean of the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees, died at Holmes hospital yesterday. Mrs. Dinsmore, whose father, Joseph H. Campbell, was a columnist for the Old Tribune came to Cincinnati from Ironton, Ohio, her birthplace, with her parents and sister in 1893. Married in 1896, Mrs. Dinsmore was the mother of three children, Mrs. Harold D. Comey and Joseph C. and Campbell Dinsmore. The sons survive her. Joseph C. Dinsmore is associated with his father in the firm of Dinsmore, Shohl, Sawyer, and Dinsmore. . . .She traveled widely, accompanying her husband several times to Europe, Japan, and the Phillippines. Herbert G. French, Vice President of the Procter and Gamble Company, accompanied the Dinsmores on a motor tour of England several years ago. Her sister, Mrs. Andrew H. Burton, 3800 Country Club Place, and four grandchildren also survive her. The grandchildren are Evelyn and David Comey and Wiley and Frank Dinsmore. Burial will be in Spring Grove. Mrs. Dinsmore was related to the Moulton and Campbell families of Ironton

Andrew Dirker, of Elizabeth township, was killed by Robert Copley at Rist's saloon on Third and Railroad streets this afternoon. Mr. Dirker was a well known German farmer who resided at Kelley's Mills beyond Pine Grove Furnace. . . Mr. Dirker's daughter had accompanied him to the city.

R.R., his leg being badly injured and left stiff. To remedy it, he submitted to a surgical operation and died instead of being improved. He was brought here Tuesday, and his funeral took place at Mr. Hunter's.

Drake, born near Georgetown, Brown county, Ohio, in October, 1818 (lengthy story) Private in the 2d VA Cavalry. . . murdered. . . leaves wife and two children, Robert S. and Louie, the former a married son who is himself in the service of our coutry. In 1860, he began the publication of the "Ironton Clipper" at Ironton, Ohio, which was discontinued in October, 1862.

Chatfield - Drury Wedding - At the Chatfield home at Delta, last Sunday, Miss Maud Chatfield and Edgar Drury of Burlington, O., were married by Rev. Robert S. Myres.

Dies in New Jersey where he went for his health. He was of Burlington, died day before yesterday. He was a brother-in-law of Henry Koontz, of one of the most prominent farmers in Lawrence county, and from his residence the funeral was held. Interment at Burlington cemetery.

Died July 12th, at noon, from lightening striking the farmhouse of Mr. Lawson Drury, about one mile above Burlington. It struck and instantly killed Mr. Jas. H. Drury, an old resident of Fayette Twp., who was sitting on the porch at the time.

Died on Sunday, Sept. 22, 1878 at Tecumseh, Johnson County, Nebraska of consumption, aged 54 years. Mr. Drury located in Tecumseh about one year ago and engaged in the jewelry business in that city. Mr. D. lived in Ironton about 10 or 12 years ago. He left in the Spring of 1869 for the West.

Mrs. Louisa R. Drury, age 73, and one of the oldest residents of this county, residing at Burlington, relict of the Lawson Drury, one of the best known farmers of this county previous to his demise, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Kouns, at Burlington, Thursday, following a stroke of paralysis several days ago. Survived by four daughters and one son as follows: Mrs. Henry Kouns, at whose home she died, Mrs. O. P. Chaffin, of Cincinnati, Adelaide, at home, Mrs. Shute of Huntington and Henry Drury of Cincinnati.

Mr. William Wilson Fisher, son of Joseph Fisher, a former citizen of Ironton made a short stop yesterday with Mr. and Mrs. James Bull of Vernon street. He was on his way from his mother's home in Cambridge, Mass., to his own home in Dallas, Texas, and brought with him the ashes of his grandmother, Mrs. Mary A. Dudley who died sometime since at Cambridge and was there cremated, and the same were deposited on the Fisher lot in Woodland cemetery.

Died - Mr. John Duduit, an old and very respectable citizen of Haverhill committed suicide last Thursday by hanging himself in his barn. Mr. Duduit was one of the original settlers of the French Grant.

Passed away at his home on Adams street last Wednesday. Mr. Duis was born in Germany November 29th, 1825. He came to America when 21 years of age and settled in Lawrence county. Mr. Duis was married to Miss ______ (need to look up - cut off of my copy), who passed to her reward, June 24th, 1904. To this union were born the following children: Mrs. George Rief of Wheelersburg; Mrs. J. C. Marting, Berea, O; Mrs. H. A. Marting, Mrs. A. H. Mittendorf, Mrs. John Ga____ of Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. H. J. K______, Mrs. Henry Fieh_, Mrs. Joseph Simon, who died August 15, 1899, and John F. Duis, who died in infancy. All the children survive but the last two named. He is also survived by one brother, Wm. Duis of Wheelersburg. Interment Woodland.

Much loved Woman - funeral services of Mrs. R. S. Dupuy were held Thursday at the family residence on Park Avenue. Mrs. Garrison, a sister of Mrs. Dupuy, is the only surviving member of a family of eleven children. Cynthanne Garland, daughter of N. R. and Vienna Garland, was born in Lewis County, Kentucky, October 21, 1840; married there in 1865 to R. S. Dupuy, and moved to Ironton the same year. Died February 22, 1904. Burial at Woodland.
