Naturalization of
John L. Sweeney

John L. Sweeney, native of Great Britain and a
subject of Victoria Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Ireland, came into open court in proper person and by his oath
and declaration, and also by that testimony of Josiah Jaynes
satisfied the court, that he has resided in the United States for
the space of five years last past, that he resided in the State of
Ohio one year next preceding the present term of the court and
that more than two years since he made and filed his Declaration
of Intention to become a citizen of the United States, in the
Court of Common Pleas of Gallia County, Ohio and that during the
aforesaid period he has maintained a good moral character, and
well disposed to the good order and happiness? of the United
States. Another upon the said John L. Sweeney being sworn in open
court declared that he will support the Constitution of the United
States and that he renounces and abjures all allegiance and
fidelity to every foreign prince ? state or sovereignty whatsoever
and particularly to Victoria Queen of the United Kingdom of Great
Britain and Ireland of whom he was late a subject whereupon the
said John L. Sweeney was recorded a citizen of the United States
of America.
