Cemeteries in Lawrence County, Ohio
When these books first was printed, they sold for over $65.00. I am now selling them (cd’s) for only $30.00, with the proceeds going to the upkeep of this website. Due to price of publishing, these readings are only available on cd’s.
They are the most complete tombstone readings for this county, and cover persons born before 1900. These readings were done in the late 1990’s and lists all of cemeteries in each township that could be located at that time. (270 cemeteries) Each tombstone found was recorded and added to this priceless list.
The CD is in Word (some is in Excel) format and is $30 S&H included and is indexed by surnames. (These records cost $65.00 when first published in book form), I am sorry, but due to the high cost of publishing, I can only offer these on CD’S. For additional information please contact Contact Law. Co., OH Genealogical Society.
Additionally, included on this CD is Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, Oh, which is the largest cemetery in the county. It has several sections, including the GAR Section (Veteran, mostly Civil War) section. There is also the Interment Index of Woodland Cemetery. This index was taken from the actual burial records, which in most entries has additional information such as owner of plot, date of birth, cause of death, etc. The Woodland index covers everyone buried there, whether they have a stone or not for the years 1871-2000 and has over 33,800 names!
Just make check payable to Lawrence County Ohio Genealogical Society.
This index is hosted by Norm Nussbaum, and was taken from the late Tom Clutters and Perry Campbell’s tombstone readings. Others helping with this project were Matt Bice, Sara Bice, Linda Haney, late Buddy Haney, Lowell Slimp, Martha Martin (Kounse), late Sheri Pettit, and the late Julian Barnett. To obtain copies of these books on CD’s, please contact Martha J. Martin at: email@example.com. These CD’s are priced at $30.00 each.

On last Monday afternoon we took a walk to Kelly’s cemetery, starting from the upper corner of Rodgers Block, walking with a moderately brisk step, up Second street by the best buggy route; we could have cut off some corners, climbing fences, and made the distance a little less.
