William Smith

William Smith and Martha Burke were married in Lawrence County, Ohio, on August 5, 1866.  They are parents of the following children:

  • Elnora Belle, born June 19, 1867;
  • Francis Marion, August 16, 1868;
  • Mary Elizabeth, December 5, 1869;
  • Martha May, August 1, 1872;
  • William Frederick, April 20, 1874;
  • John Hamlin, August 27, 1875;
  • George Rutherford, March 21, 1877;
  • Lewis Sherman, April 3, 1879;
  • Charles Arthur, February 17, 1881. 

The parents of Mr. Smith are William and Elizabeth (Boggess) Smith, settlers of this county in 1865.  Mrs. Smith’s parents are Samuel and Mary Ann (Griffith) Burke. Mr. Smith was a soldier in the war of the rebellion.  He enlisted on August 15, 1862, and served in the quartermaster’s department.  His birthplace is West Virginia, was born on January 22, 1843. 

Mrs. Smith was born in Lawrence county, on October 3, 1842.  Mr. Smith is a farmer in Elizabeth township. His post office address is in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio.
