William Seager married Sarah Wood in Tenbury, Worchester, England April 27, 1845. They came to America in 1846. Sarah gave birth to their first child 3 days after the boat arrived in America. This child was named THOMAS W. SEAGER (SAGER). They came through Virginia and made their way to Lawrence Co. Ohio. Arriving in Ironton- Lawrence Co. Ohio about 1858. William was enlisted in The Co. B 1st VA. Lt. Art. (now West VA.)His Spinal Vertebrae was crushed and he was brought back home to Ironton Totally with Paralysis He died in 1868 in Ironton and is buried at Henry’s Cemetery-Ironton.
Sarah was left a widow with 6 young children, Thomas W., Anna, David, Elizabeth, George, and Emma Seager. The last two being born in Ironton. Sarah Wood Seager is buried in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton. The family were all members of the Methodist Church in Ironton and very active in church work.
