In the book-Tax List in the 1820’s for Scioto, Lawrence and Pike Cos., Oh, I found the following BRYAN: BRYAN, —— Lawrence 1828 Fayette Twp.

MARRIAGES BOOK 1-7
1817-1861

BRYAN John married Sary LANE 13 Dec 1827

Will of John BRYAN and Sarah BRYAN

These two were Mother and Son. According to the will, this John went to San Franciso, CA and died there on 13 October 1865, age 35 years old, which would make his birth date ca. 1835. It also stated that he had a brother, William H. BRYAN, but it didn’t mention any of his sisters. It also states that this John BRYAN didn’t have any children, only his brother. Sarah BRYAN’S will states she died ca. 20-25 Aug 1857 and this is the above John BRYAN’S Mother. His Father must have been named JohnBRYAN, also from the marriage records I found.
Apparently there were two families of John BRYAN’S in Lawrence Co., which makes it extremely difficult to separate, because of the lack of births and deaths until 1860’s. The one above I found in the courthouse mentioned was the John BRYAN that married Sary LANE in 1827. How they are related to the other John & EleanorBRYAN, I frankly can’t say for certain, I can only presume. The above John & Sarah BRYAN lived in Burlington, OH which is in Fayette Twp. Lawrence Co. and according to the Hardesty Atlas and the census records, John BRYAN resided in Mason Twp., around Scottown, OH. That is close to the border of Gallia/Lawrence Co., OH.
