Among the oldest residents of Ironton
and best known among the men of Lawrence County is Mr. W. D.
Henry, who was born on the outskirts of what is now known as
Ironton, in 1829. He received his education in the common schools of
the county and afterward made farming his vocation until about 25
years of age, when he engaged in the milling business, which he
followed for sixteen years. He retired from active business for a
time and nine years ago was elected Justice of the Peace,
which office he has since held, discharging duties faithfully and
well.
