QUERY!!

I am looking for information regarding John W. Summers, his wife Martha Summers, and their daughter Theressa Summers.  They lived in Washington Township, Lawrence County, Ohio in the late 1800"s.  I know John was born about 1846 and Martha died February 12, 1889 and is buried in Olive Cemetery.  Theressa, my grandmother, married Grove White and lived in Lancaster, Ohio.  I would appreciate any information.  Thank you.

NEW!  Please help me find William Isitt!

I am trying to trace a distant relative named William Isitt, who was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1815 and emigrated to the U.S., arriving in New York in April 1842 on the "Sheridan". I have a copy of a letter that he wrote to his brother and sister in Wales on July 17th 1848. His address at that time was Hanging Rock, Lawrence County, Ohio.

Other than this letter, and the record of his arrival in New York, I have been able to find absolutely no record of William Isitt in the U.S.

I am wondering if you have any ideas, or if you can suggest someone who could undertake some paid research for me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards

How do I get a copy of the birth records that we have online?

Submitted by admin2 on Thu, 07/30/2009 - 7:01pm

Births 1868-1938 (from Lawrence County Ohio Probate Court) are only  available on microfilm.  You can view them at your local Mormon Church (LDS), Ohio Historical Society (Cols, Oh) , Athens OU Alden Library, and Briggs Library in Ironton Ohio. The books are not available at the courthouse, due to their fragile condition.

Copies of the Lawrence County Ohio Birth Records after 1909-present are available from Ironton City Health Dept. and/or State of Ohio Vital Statistics in Columbus Ohio.  http://www.odh.ohio.gov/vitalstatistics/vitalstats.aspx

We are working on the 1909-1940 birth indexes of Lawrence County, Ohio. Only the index will be listed on our website.  If you choose to obtain a copy of those records, they are available from Ironton City Health Dept, Ironton Ohio and/or Ohio State Vital Statistics in Columbus Ohio.

To obtain copies of those, you must do one of the following:

1. Hire a paid researcher , (see our "Researcher for Hire'"link.)

2. Visit the Ironton City Health Dept. or Vital Statistics Office, in person

3. Email Attn: Juanita Dalton, Registrar, from Ironton City Health Dept. jdalton@odh.ohio.gov

4. Call Health Dept. 740.532.2212

5. Mail - write to the
Ironton City Health Dept.
 2212 South 8th ST
 Ironton, Ohio 45638

6. Visit State Vital Statistic Office online.
http://www.odh.ohio.gov/vitalstatistics/vitalstats.aspx

Certified Copies are $18.00 each from the Health Dept.
