QUERY!!

I am looking for information regarding John W. Summers, his wife Martha Summers, and their daughter Theressa Summers.  They lived in Washington Township, Lawrence County, Ohio in the late 1800"s.  I know John was born about 1846 and Martha died February 12, 1889 and is buried in Olive Cemetery.  Theressa, my grandmother, married Grove White and lived in Lancaster, Ohio.  I would appreciate any information.  Thank you.

NEW!  Please help me find William Isitt!

I am trying to trace a distant relative named William Isitt, who was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1815 and emigrated to the U.S., arriving in New York in April 1842 on the "Sheridan". I have a copy of a letter that he wrote to his brother and sister in Wales on July 17th 1848. His address at that time was Hanging Rock, Lawrence County, Ohio.

Other than this letter, and the record of his arrival in New York, I have been able to find absolutely no record of William Isitt in the U.S.

I am wondering if you have any ideas, or if you can suggest someone who could undertake some paid research for me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards

Welcome To The Lawrence Register...

The Lawrence Register is privately owned and operated by Martha J. Martin and Sharon M. Kouns. We have committed ourselves to keep The Lawrence Register non-commercial and to provide free access for everyone, as long as we possibly can.

Lawrence County, Ohio borders the Ohio River at the Southernmost part of the state. Six architecturally interesting bridges span the Ohio River, connecting Lawrence County with various locations in both Kentucky and West Virginia. Because of these bridges, metropolitan Ashland, KY and Huntington, WV are just minutes away from virtually anywhere in the county.

Lawrence County Ohio was organized December 20, 1816, the first Court of Common Pleas was organized March 4, 1817. The first election was held April 7, 1817, with Joseph Davidson, Joel Bowen, and David Spurlock elected county commissioners. Their first meeting was held Monday afternoon, April 21, 1817, at the home of Joseph Davidson in Burlington.

Lawrence County's major highways are US Route 52, State Route 7, 243, 775, & 93. The Interstate 64 connection is located in Burlington, just off the 17th Street Bridge. This exit is close proximity to Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Bob Evans, Comfort Suites, Lowe's and more.

Huntington, WV's newest shopping center "Pullman Square" is just across the Ohio River at Chesapeake, Ohio. You will find restaurants, hotels, movie theaters, beautiful Ritter Park, and many more places of interest.

The 'Lawrence Register' is a personal site, not a big corporation, just a couple ladies who love Lawrence County, Ohio's history and enjoy helping people. But running a web site this size is very expensive, and we need your donations to help defray costs. Just email us for additional information, any amount is greatly appreciated and will ensure this site will remain free of charge.
